New members to the family
Caught a gun show this weekend up in Louisville. Was able to get my dad to go. I picked him up for company on the trip, as I was going to bring home my first 1911.
Dad who I thought was just coming for comapny picked up two new toys. (Dad is one who knows a little bit about firearms, but usually ask me for any and all advice. Also the only gun he has has been 92fs that he picked up from a police officer when the fellow retired.) The first was 642NIB, the price tag on it was $356. He picked it up and said this is what you mom should carry. (Mom is not anti-gun, but she will be a long time conversion to ever think about carrying) I told him it was a good price. Figured we move move right along as we had been since this was a purchase we were planning on making. Next thing I know he was filling out the paperwork and we were on our way with gun #1.
As the day progressed he let me know that he was really looking for a .22 pistol to just plink a little. (The truth comes out, should have know there was areason why he really wanted to go.) Well we ran across a Beretta neo inox dlx for $299. Well here was gun number two, for the man that was just going along for a ride.
Well I think he did pretty well this weekend.
I too didn't leave empty handed. I picked up a Taurus for $495. Looking forward to this weekend to get out and put some lead down range. Will post some pics hopefully later tonight.
Now it is time to accessorize.

Sounds like your dad got a good price on the NEO and 642.
Now, Maybe I missed another thread about it, but since you said you were going to buy your first 1911, and then you got a Taurus for $495, did you get a PT1911 for $495?

Yes thats right. Been looking at them for awhile now and finally decided to bite the bullet. Hope to get a good carry piece out of it.

Ok, thanks for clarifying. Let us know how it works out for you. I have eyed them for a while too, but if they are now raising prices like on thread suggests, I'll look elsewhere.
$495 for a Pt1911 is a pretty good price.
