I second the motion on the Walther P99 and P99c. Flawless performance, unbelievable accuracy, and sweet trigger. My P99c is the best gun I have ever shot.

HK has the same type of mag release and I love it. I had a P99 that I sold (to a buddy who is under strict orders to sell it back someday). The mag release is really easy to get used to and is very fast, and you don't have to adjust your shooting grip.

Many people decide they don't like this style release because they try to use their thumb to do it as if it were a standard style button.

I think the PX4c will be fatter than a PPS. This new PPS might turn out to be the "modern PPK", I always wished you coud get one of those in a 9mm.

    Looks great!! What is the size comparison - I have a G27 and a H & K P2000sk - will it be a touch smaller than these??

    FWIW:

I think Beretta makes some fine pistols.. The early series Tomcat was not one of those.. Having problems with my Tomcat gave me the opportunity to learn the hard way that Beretta's Customer Service is practically non-existent.. I had to send my Tomcat back twice and thank goodness someone with poor taste at UPS "liberated" the pos, and insurance covered it. I can't speak for Beretta Customer Service today, but it was so bad several years ago that I swore off Beretta's forever.. YMMV

In contrast the Walther PPS will be imported thru Smith & Wesson.. Smith & Wesson will be doing any necessary warranty repairs, and from all I hear Smith & Wesson provides excellent Customer Service/Warranty Repair.

No Customer Service VS Excellent Customer Service... Your call.

I have to say my two Walther P99's (both "AS" compact/full size) are as a package the best all around firearms I've ever owned.. I think one thing that has astounded me is the fantastic accuracy of both pistols right out of the box.

To be fair perhaps the idiots at Beretta Customer Service that I tried to deal with have left town, but I'm not gonna chance having to deal with them again with another Beretta product.

    Just my old fart opinion..

    Best Wishes,

Trigger safety, same as all Glocks.
The Walther P-22 also has a safety lever that is used for safe dry-firing.

I like this gun, looks like good gift for my wife, she loves the P-22 platform.

Looks like it might be a great gun for carry. I am LH'ed too. The dual safety system is a wonderful improvement. I own a HK USP too.

I have the compact P99c/AS and the full size P99/AS.. Both of my Walthers have been 100% reliable and amazingly accurate right out of the box.

One of the many special details I appreciate so much about the the Walther P99 series of pistols offer is in fact the dual mag releases incorporated into the lower part of the trigger guard.

Perhaps others might disagree, but I think these mag releases are light years an improvement over the convential types. I have found that my index finger slides perfectly to the slide release and I can make mag changes easier and faster with the Walther than I can any of my old style pistols.

    YMMV

Am I mistaken, or has this gun (the PPS) actually been available in Europe for some time, and is only now coming to the U.S.?

Anyone actually seen one at a local gunshop yet?
