    Question 3" 1911 style

well ive decided that by next week im buying something.
i have narrowed it down finally quite a bit.
I want something that is slim (single stack), and i can carry cocked and locked, or SA (like the XD). anything that isnt DA any of my shots.
anyways. So i would be ok with a SADA with a safety, but there are very few 3" barrel SADAs that have a safety. I only saw one or two and i didnt like them for other reasons, so if you know of a good one of those tell me.
So that pretty much brings me the the 1911 style which i like.
There are the usual springfield EMP and kimber aegis which everyone always argues about which is better. after reading a lot i think they are gonna be pretty much the same. So im wondering if there are any other 3" barrel 1911 style that i should be looking at, or are those my best 2 choices?

    yep already saw that.
i defiantly think springfield is better as far as warranty goes,
but i think kimber is a bit better as far as quality goes (dont need the warranty). id rather have the EMP i think, but it will be a lot easier for me to get the kimber (havnt found an EMP around here yet)

I'd have to go with Springfield, the EMP is made for the 9mm, the others are just adapted to it, and based on my experience Kimber makes a great 1911 as long as it's in .45. I wouldn't buy another non .45 from Kimber, the two we have in .40 are problem children.

As noted in your Warrnty thread, Springfield offers a better warranty.

Holsters should be identical, and you've all ready covered where to get non-wood replacement grips for either.

I think the fact that you'll get a better warranty alone is worth getting the EMP.

With some Kimbers, you mat need the warranty...ALOT

    Or, the STI LS:
    http://www.stiguns.com/

0.75" across the slide. Very nice little guns.

Sorry, it won't link directly to the page, it appears. Just click on "LS", in the Complete Guns menu, on the left.

Para does make single stack LDAs. Unfortunately IIRC all their single stack guns are .45ACP or .45GAP

**Edited to add, I stand corrected, Para does make a 3" 9mm, the CARRY 9

I had one of their CCW LDAs and it's only flaw IMHO was the bobbed beavertail, after about 3 mags it started hurting my hand, a 9mm model may be better.

    STI Escort in 9mm

I don't know if this has been mentioned, but STI makes their 3 inch barrel "Escort" 1911 in both .45 and 9mm. Here is a link and a picture:

You can buy one online, and have it shipped to your local shop to do the transfer.

    There's this guy for starters:

Or you can try GunsAmerica.com or Gunbroker.com, or you can have your local shop try to order one.

That is the gun that just started my latest g.a.s. attack. A buddy of mine who lives 2 blocks from the STI shop in Georgetown sent a pic of it to me. Its a beauty, but just recently started shipping. But, I think I've settled on the Kimber.
