Kimber sight removal
How the heck do you do it?
I have the ultra carry and bought some XS sights to put on it but I can't get the originals to move a stitch!
I took out the little screw in the back sight but I had no luck.

Well there's multiple options
My favorite is having a gun shop do it.
Then there's a 1911 sight tool
A rubber mallet and a punch: Not recommened if you haven't done it before or have the proper punches.
A hammer and the little plastic pucnh looking thingy that came with the sights.
If you don't have a sight tool, find a shop that will put them on.
Even with the right tools it took Lima quite a bit of time to change out the sights on her Kimber.

DO NOT do it on your own with a punch tool!
If you slip (especially on the front sight) you can end up snapping off your front sight and then you are screwed.
Call your local gun shops and ask them if they have a sight tool for removing and installing sights on a Kimber. There are several gun shops that will not do Kimbers or Sigs unless they have special sight tools for those guns.
It took me TWO HOURS to change the sights on my Kimber even with a sight tool at the gun shop I work at. I have a new found respect for sights because they DO NOT move no matter how much you pound on them with the little punches that XS sends with their sights. Heck, they barely moved with me on the sight tool putting all 105 lbs of my body weight on the crank.
Call around, you'd be surprised what's available.
Good luck! You're going to need it changing Kimber sights.. Been there, done that, got the great new XS sights to prove it!

Any chance you can post some pictures of your XS sights?
It takes a college degree to break'em;
and a high school education to fix'em!

Spring for a sight press or borrow one... A smith shouldnt charge very much to do it, it really doesnt take much time.
