Not sure what SIXTO uses, but I am thinking of switching to XS Big Dot IF Truglo does not make good on these sights. Actually, I am kinda concerned now with them doing this again so I am not sure I will even put another set on.

I will decide Monday when I talk to them and find out what options if any I have and figure it out from there.

I prefer plain jane meprolights. I have had XS sights too, they are good quality. Always always always use a sight press!

To me, it looks like the fibre optic pipes are cracking more than the Tritium is going out.

Ti, please let us know what they say. I have TFOs on two of my guns with no problem so far. But they are in no way abused either. They are great sights as far as visibility. This is the first time I've heard of any problem with them.

Thanks for the info. on sights. I have TFO's on my glocks. The glocks are the only ones where I installed the sights with a sight pusher tool.

I am interested in hearing what the outcome is for the TFO's.

Yep, no problem. I am calling in the morning to find out the deal and what they will or will not do. The sad part here is I really like these sites, I took to them right away when first sighting my gun at the target with them on, I hit in the X the fist shot at 15 yards and within an inch or two with the rest, That was the first time I shot and XD and as well with the TFO's. I was so impressed with it I used it in a tactical class. A day or two after the class I noticed them not picking up natural light and then noticed the internal shattering.

I don't abuse my gun's but I expect them to perform in a tactical class and survive it so I can carry what I am training with. If these sites are sensitive to breakage then I don't want them and will have to find another option.

I wonder if sights could have been weakend by any solvant possibly. I have TFO's on my Glock 23 and have shot over 2000 rounds with them and so far no problem. I have 48 year old eyes that really appreciate the great sight picture that they offer me.

    Got word!

Talked to Truglo today and they seem to think it was cleaning solution that caused the weakness in the sites and thus caused the break down.

I don't soak my slide or anything but I guess just enough solution got on them to cause this problem. What a pain and I guess I will know better next time but they are making good on them. All I have to do is send them in and they will either replace the fibers or exchange them for a new set.

So all you Truglo Sight owner’s, be very careful when cleaning your gun's that you have them on, it could and probably will cause this problem. I will find out more but tec support was saying that they have a list of cleaners that tend to damage the fibers to stay away from. Not real happy about that but I guess I will do what needs to be done to preserve the new sights

So, rvrrat hit the nail on the head.

It would be great if you could list what cleaners that we should stay away from.

I dunno if I buy that... even if it is the cause, I still require my carry guns to be tougher than gun scrubber or whatever nasty cleaners I use.

That's interesting. I don't soak my guns anyways or let them get real dirty. I have them on a Glock 19, but they only have maybe 6-700 rounds through them.

I do have a shotgun (Police Special Ithaca-LA Cnt. Sheriff's gun) that's well over 15 yrs. old with a fiber optic front sight. Never had a problem with it either, but it's mounted differently than the TFOs.

Actually, since they have a list of cleaners that cause damage to their sights it'd be nice if they'd recommend a few that were safe to use - might save customers some aggrevation.

I don't know why they couldn't clear coat them or something for protection if they are that sensitive to cleaners.

I will post the ones they recommend staying away from when I get them.

Probably don't clear coat because either the coating would diminish the effectiveness of the fibers, or the solvents in clear coating would effect them the same way as the cleaning solvents.

I have a set on my Sig and haven't had any problems (yet). I do like the way they are visible no matter what. I used a sight pusher to install them.
