    Astra A-100 for carry?

Do any of you use or have used an Astra A-100 for concealed carry?
I have one in 9mm that has been totally reliable and pretty accurate. For a mid-sized auto it feels great in the hand. A bit thick for IWB carry, but for OWB on the hip it would be fine.
It's funny - seems like all anyone talks about or carries here for the most part are "new" guns like the Glocks, Springfield XD's, Kahrs, etc. or 1911 and j-frame varients.

If it works for you, there is nothing wrong with carrying it. Where do you get your spare parts and holsters?
They look a lot like an older Sig, I wonder if some parts are interchangable.

I had an A-80 that was a decent sidearm, loooong trigger pull, but worked well for me. I tried an A-100 .45ACP about 10 or so years ago, and for some reason I could NOT shoot that gun straight! Others could, but for some reason, I could never hit the target with the thing. Worked well, other than that. Astra made a good product. Score your spare parts now, before they're all gone.

Good point about the spare parts - I don't have any on hand but probably should- although I know just a replacement barrel alone goes for $200+.

    A100

Gun parts lists no spare parts for it, just magazines:
    http://www.e-gunparts.com/products.a...=1070zA100&MC=

Brownell's and Midway only list a firing pin for the Cub in Astra parts.

In my experience, if they don't have them there, you're in for a bit of work if you need parts. Nothing wrong with the gun, but you're only a broken extractor away from a paperweight that's expensive or impossible or not worth fixing.

    On EAA's website - http://eaacorp.com/diagrams-a100lg.html
they have a full diagram of an A-100 with all parts priced with ordering links for each. Guess I'd have to actually order some of them to see if they are actually in stock...

I have an A-75 in .40 cal that I sometimes carry OWB in a slant pancake holster.

It's a nice pistol, feeds and fires like a champ, and shoots well. It is a bit on the heavy side for it's size though.

I had heard you couldn't get parts for them, and will check eaa myself. I should probably get some. I'm keeping mine as long as it runs, becuase they are too nice of a pistol to let one go for the measly amount that they resell for.

I found a guy who has mags, becuase I only have two and want another, but they are EXPENSIVE, so I changed my mind and decided to stick with what I have for now. I always look for them at gun shows and haven't found one yet.
When you've got 'em by the balls, their hearts & minds will follow. Semper Fi.
