New Colt Agent Semi Auto 45acp

We just got one of these into the shop yesterday.

It's a lightweight model, with the "gutter" sight [ no standard sighting system ]. The grip allows a full purchase [ barely ] of the middle, ring and pinky on the frame.

Anyone seen these before, fired them? They are not listed on the Colts web pages that I can find presently.

    Impressions?

    Modified Defender

I have seen pictures of the Colt "New Agent" and it is essentially a modified Colt Defender. It has the same 3 inch barrel and aluminum frame, but differs as follows:

    - Black finish instead of stainless
    - Slim wood grips instead of thick rubber
    - Groove in frame for sights instead of front and rear
    - Front strap serrations
    - Grip safety tang instead of beavertail
    - Angled cut on front of slide for press check

This was introduced at the 2007 Shot Show. I admire Colt for coming out with new products, but I am happy with my Defender, on which I already changed to aftermarket slim grip panels.

    Post Pics - PLEASE NOTE

OK...Since I know that EVERYBODY is going to be screaming for pics of this New Colt Pistola.
There was/is one for sale on Gunbroker.com and so I uploaded and saved those photos to our gallery.
I posted them up in Brownie's first post in order to keep the initial photos up near the top of the thread.

    ANY additional photos are welcome.

I took this pic with the camera phone at the shop this morning, obviously not the best photo.

    QKShooter,

    Thanks for the pics sir.

This gun is very lightweight in the hand. Kimbers RCP feels like a brick comparatively.

    goawayfarm,

This one in the shop is $889.95

    AzQkr...

What's your opinion of this firearm since you are lucky enough to be able to have one "in hand" ?

I actually LIKE the idea of the Gutter Snipe sight.

I wonder how many folks though are going to buy one and then have conventional aftermarket sights put on?

How does the quality seem to you concerning the fit and the finish?

Does it seem well put together like a Colt should be put together?

I also LIKE the old style Thumb Safety.
In fact I just finished converting one.

    QK,

I like this one quite a bit. The weight is what really stood out when I picked it up, seems lighter than most lightweights for some reason.

This ones fit and finish seems about equal to an SA parked gun. I'd buy this one if I was in the market for a small LW 1911 type pistol. There isn't any play in the slide to frame fit on this one.

I like the idea of the gutter sight setup as well.

    NYCMedic - No Problem

In fact the most crisp and clear photos yet.

That's right it was originally going to be called the Colt "Concealed Carry"...now it's the Colt New Agent.

"There isn't any play in the slide to frame fit on this one."

    That's a good sign.
