    S&W mp 9MM compact

Took a look at the new S&W MP 9 Compact today. Would appreciate feedback on how well they shoot and carry. Have a Springfield 9 Service and am just looking for something a little better for carry.

Tons of info/opinions there. I have the full size, and am happy with it. I just don't like the short grips on a compact. Everyone I've talked to who has one seems to like them, though.

They're great little pistols from my experience. The interchangeable backstraps are a great feature and allow you to customize the grip to better fit your hands. I've found that they're also very soft shooting guns and do a good job of soaking up recoil.

Carries very nicely - light, compact, well-rounded.

Mine shoots great - accurate, very controllable, reliable as a brick.

It's pretty much my EDC in warm weather, usually in a CTAC IWB.

I really like my M&P 9c and ended up buying a M&P 9 because of it. It absorbs recoil better than the Glocks and points better than a Glock - much more like a 1911.

    I HIGHLY recommend them.

I've got one and have put about 2k rounds through it so far without a single issue. It's very accurate and the felt recoil is almost non existent. I can carry mine in an IWB holster under a "normal" fitting t-shirt without any worries that I'll be made. When I first got the gun, the trigger was really gritty and it was almost impossible to get the 12th round into the magazine, but both of those issues have gone away after the break in period. One thing that still lingers is that when I've got 12 in the mag and one in the pipe, the slightest pressure on the mag release will cause the mag to drop out. This was an issue when carrying IWB and I'd sit down and the pressure against my back would cause the mag to release. I've since started carrying 11 in the mag and 1 in the pipe and the problem went away.

I've had my 9c about 2 months now.

Love this gun. Feel is great. Trigger was gritty at first, but has evened out really nicely. Conceals well. I mostly am using a UC holster shirt.

But, even IWB, can't get the thing to print.

    I love this gun.

Can't speak to the M&P 9, but I just traded in my G27 for a M&P 40Compact. I could not be any happier. I put 150 flawless rounds through it. Has significantly lighter recoil than the Glock. I have small hands and being able to put that small backstrap on the M&P and its overall improved ergonomics makes a world of difference. The only complaint I could have is it has a gritty trigger. I'm sure that will change as I further break the gun in. Best polymer gun I've shot (compared to Glock, Sig, Kahr, & Keltec), hands down. Good luck!

Went and shot one today. Man....it is sweet. Took my XD 9 service with me which I really love and shot them side by side. I plan on keeping my XD but am looking for a small 9 that will be easier to carry. I am not a fan of Kahr so right now it,s between the XD 9 SC and the M&P.

Must purchase between June 1 and July 15, IIRC.

folks, does the mag drop problem also been noted with the .40 compact? does the pistol have to be loaded w/ 9 rnds only with this pistol?
