Anyhitng with Gunsite on it is going to perform, they don't endorse products lightly. The Colt is a bit pricey, but I'd like it better than the lighter S&W Commander style pistol.

I hate to be the nay sayer but the Series 70 pistol I had was among the worst handguns I have owned. I sold it and I never looked back. I swear mine was made on a Monday using Friday's parts. Regards, Richard

I really like mine, in general, they are put together quite well. Mine has shown to be very accurate and typical of Colt's, dead reliable. I don't find them pricey, they are compatible with others with like features.

Slight thread drift. I recently sold my Colt Government Model, Mk IV, series 70. This was the first pistol I bought back in 1983, never had a minute's worth of trouble out of it. The only reason I sold it, was to finance another Sig, a P220 compact. My reasoning was that multiple weapons for concealed carry, at least for me, was not a good idea. Decided to go with pistols that all utilized the same manual of arms.

Having said that, I can imagine that a "true series 70" with the Gunsite endorsement is probably a sweet shooting weapon.

If you're going to Gunsite, picking up a fine pistol while there, seems like the best way to commemorate your visit. I have had the pleasure to shoot several of these and loved them. None of the owners have reported a minute's worth of trouble, or regret. Very well made. Very dependable.

I think it compares very favorably with other guns in the price range. Given your circumstances, it's a no-brainer.

The Bad Rep. exists because of sloppy manufacturing YEARS ago.

There is no design flaw , and the current "series 70" guns are made to the same standards as the more recent variations.

Isn't current and recent basically the same thing?

I'd love one of them Gunsite Pistolas, they just look like a work horse. How much are they?

That's not much more than I'm paying for a used Les Baer TR Special, had I thought about it, I may have just save a couple hundred more and bought a new Colt GunSite, but the TR has had some work done...

I can buy a new one for the same dough as the Gunsite. Since Ima hardheaded Les Baer guy, all things being equal, I would rather have the TRS. HOWEVER, the Gunsite is a fine weapon, similar features to the TRS and heck, he's goin to the Sanctum Sanctorum of pistol training. If for no other reason than sentiment, I'd buy the Colt. I have found that Ponies and Baers share safe accommodations quite amiably

Now, on the other hand, if I were going to Thunder Ranch....

The GSP is a lot of gun for the money IMHO . They represent a well thought out blend of what Cooper wanted , and what has been proven desired or needed by the students going thro gunsite .
Make sure you get full value out of today , Do something worthwhile, because what you do today will cost you one day off the rest of your life .
