    From 642 to XD40SC

I got an XD40SC in the spring. I knew I wasn't going to carry it until I got use to it and got a good holster for it. It's my first semi-auto. I've got almost 700 rounds through it now.
I've carried a 642 since November via IWB, Smartcarry, pocket and shoulder.
I finally got an OWB holster for my XD from Fist yesterday and carried it for the first time tonight with a cover shirt when we went out to dinner. Wow what a difference. After carrying the 642 every day for 8 months, I felt like I was carrying the weight of a brick, but it was comfortable. The weight feeling had nothing to do with the holster, its just so much heavier than the 642. The holster supported it very well.
With the extra mag on one side and that big gun on my other side, I really felt "loaded for business". I actually felt better and safer. I loved it. I just wore a slightly over-sized button up shirt and I dont believe it printed at all even being OWB. I'm waiting on a Dakota Defender for my XD from K&D which will be here this week, I've got this Fist and I got one from Tucker last week for my 642. Once they all get here ( this week )I'll post a FULL review on all 3 holsters.
I can see this XD being my primary carry. My 642 will be for work and times I can't hide the XD. I'm thrilled I can finally carry my XD. It's a new world. Oh what a feeling ..

I have rented the XD both the 9mm and the 40cal at the range and although they shoot great I just can't get attached to them they seem to be kinda blocky to me, but I must admit I am a Glock guy so maybe its me.

I see his point, although it is odd for a Glock guy to not like the "blockyness"
I am used to the Glocks, and like them just fine but cant warm up to the XD's. I just dont like them.

I have both. I enjoy shooting the XD more, but feel more comfortable with carrying the 642.

You are more comfortable because of it being a revolver? The size?

Why is it that you always find things at the last place you looked?

642 is more comfortable to me because of revolver and size. I can slip it into a pocket holster in my front pocket.

I also alternate between an XD subcompact and a 642. The 642 is what I can do during the work week and the XD is unfortunately left to weekends and occasional evenings. Funny thing is when I bought the 642 I thought I would rarely use it. It's versatility and size has made it my most common carry.
