Wedding ring finger (not so) blues...

I've recently noticed that on some of my guns I've worn off the bluing or finish on the grip from my wedding ring rubbing against the metal...
I'm left handed, so I was wondering if there are other Southpaws out there who have to deal with this - do you take your ring off every time you shoot?

I don't wear one, but when I did it bugged me to no end gripping a pistol why wearing a ring. I typically would remove it , when shooting.

Although my wife hates it, I remove the ring when shooting.

Most of the time I do take of my ring when I shoot lefty.

What do yo carry? A good set of hogue wrap-arounds will solve this.

I used to wear a second ring on my right hand ring finger, but I was getting the same issue, so it's pretty much just my wedding band I need to worry about.

I used to wear my fingerless motorcycle gloves when shooting. Now, I do have a Hogue wraparound grip for one of my guns; the rest I don't have a problem with.

As a lefty, I do notice it a little, but I refuse to take my ring off, therefore I chalk it up to "Cost of being married"...

My wedding band is Titanium, I work in construction and gold bands get destroyed... I haven't noticed any marks from it regardless of gun/hand used.

    You mean like this?

I agree with Curtis27 - it's just the cost of being married. And, I can't get the ring off anyway.

My ring doesn't bother me when I shoot. Funny, though it bugs the heck out of me when I play golf. It never comes off though. Wife would kill me!

I'd hate to see what my titanium ring would do to my aluminum frame... Good thing I am right handed.

Oh...GOOD PLACE for me to put this bit of useless gun trivia.

About ten years ago I read that a female shooter lost her 1.5 Carat diamond out of her wedding ring while target shooting and never did find it. It was insured for loss though.

It's possible that the stone was loose anyway but, regardless it's something that shooters with "set" stones in their finger jewelry should think about.

I shoot a Beretta 92, Astra A-100, and Bersa 380 maily. I had a ribber slip on finger-groove grip on the Astra for a while, until I noticed that there were minute rust spots forming under the grip.

Throw a roll of 1/2 in medical tape in your gun bag & just wrap your ring. Cheap, easy solution.

Not a lefty but do practice that way - answer for me is the rubber CT grips - well at least on my EDC 226 and practice 228.

I can well imagine ''ring wear'' tho (no innuendo intended )

I'm not left handed, but I do practice with my left hand every now and then and no, no damage to ring or to gun. I have two sets of wedding rings. One for every day and my "good" set. If either bother me I have no problem taking them off. I frequently take them off if cleaning guns.

I have no problem taking off my wedding ring and no problem if John takes his off. It's not what's on his finger it's what's in his head and heart that matters most to me.
