    Sights

I have a glock 19. For my first 20 - 30 shots I can see the sights fine. After that I have a hard time, they don't seem to pop into sight as easily and blur with the background / targets.

Someone mentioned putting fiber sights on it, but it seemed like they are very fragile and prone to snap / break.

I was thinking about getting some bright pink nailpolish and trying that on the sights.

Any comments / suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Nail polish can work but sounds more like eye fatigue to me

maybe a better sight set up

Not all fiber optics are prone to break down but if you are going with the paint how about green and yellow instead of pink.

I bright green would work. My concern about trying paint is will it chip off, and will I ruin the sights.

If you go with the paint, after the paint is dry, apply a small drop of superglue over the paint. This will seal the paint and keep it from chipping over time.

    No.
The paint very well may peel/chip off, so just paint it again. I'm going to try the super glue idea myself.

Yes they do, but it's not really any better than a bright finger nail paint...

On my Glock-36, I put Trij night sights...big dots during the day, and as the light dims...they become easier for 60 y/o eyes to see...

TFO's are by far the best combat sights I've ever tried - especially with yellow rears.

I got a set of TFOS from Gary for my G19, makes a big difference in visibility. The reports of fragile FO I've heard have all been linked to solvent use which seemsto cause fracturing of the fibers. Seems if you can keep the solvent away from the sights during cleaning, there shouldn't be a problem.

Haven't heard if there's a solvent that Truglo recommends as being safe for use with their sights but it's been a while since I've looked into the issue.

A lot depends on what else you've looked at and liked. If you have the factory plastic sights, not the factory night sights, there is a world of difference. I don't know how rapidly you're shooting, but pausing a little longer between shots as you tire, might help.

We have three dot tritium sights (green front, yellow rear are popular) on everything we can, and replaced front sights with XS standard dot or big dot on the revolvers. We standardize ours to keep it simple. Tritium night sights for a self defense HG should be strongly considered.

I would go to a good sized gun shop and they should be able to let you look at a few mfgs. and styles to help you decide, even letting you try them in a darken space to get a better feel for how it works with your night vision.

If you change sights, pay someone to do it properly(it shouldn't be much), which should include bore sighting.

Good luck, and if you wouldn't mind letting us know what ends up working best for you.

I use the clear coat hardener nail polish on top of the bright nail polish to protect it from wearing/chipping. That seems to work for me, though I'm sure superglue would work just as well.
