Scratch on SA 1911 Stainless Slide

I've got some minor scratches on the stainless steel slide of my Springfield Milspec 1911.

Any suggestions to remove those scratches and blemishes? I'm not the most mechanically-gifted person in the world, so I tend to be a disaster when using any form of power tools.

    Thanks in advance!

I just bought a used stainless mil spec with a dandy scratch in the slide and various minor dings.

I used Flitz and a Dremel with buffing wheel and worked all the scratches out.

jayhawk, a carry weapon picks up nicks and scratches every day and they can't be avoided. Unless they are ugly I would consider the marks from usage to be character and do nothing about them. Regards, Richard

Very fine steel wool will also work. You might just want to leave it. If you end up scratching the whole slide to match the part you're trying to fix, you'll be kicking yourself for it.

Yeah, you need to work harder and get more scratches and blemishes!
