It has to be used with the maritime cups and FMJ ammo. From what I have read I was not designed to be shot totally sumberged with the maritime cups but at the surface or just below.

I think other guns could do it if they had a specially designed part to allow water get through like the maritime cups do. http://www.glock.com/english/options_springcups.htm

I put the maritime spring cups on my carry pieces just to make sure that it will still function properly if it ever gets dunked in a mud puddle or something. A very long shot, I know. $10 for the peace of mind isn't bad.

okay, the next time i am next to a water filled trash can i will remember this. but you are right, glock makes one of the best gun made. that is one reason i have several. they will shoot no matter what you do to them.

Hope you saw the video of the DEA "expert" shooting himself in the leg with a Glock too. No gun has everything for everybody.

What an idiot. Yes, it proves that a Glock can probably fire underwater, but his "experiment" is obviously done illegally without much regard for safety. Heck - he's not even wearing safety glasses.

Fired bullets are so totally ineffective underwater I never saw any advantage to the ability to fire a handgun underwater.

I don't see a reason why any gun wouldn't fire in that situation. Have you even seen the HK test That guy is an idiot the path of the bullet can easliy be redirect right at him or another person

In my ignorant youth I fired my Smith & Wesson Model 10 under water. It worked every time too. Couldn't hit a stump ten feet away with it though.

Any major caliber handgun will penetrate a 1/2" sheet of plywood, and then some.

It's an age old debate... I went from SIG's to Glocks for a while. I just couldn't feel confident in the safety of a Glock so have come full circle back to SIGs.

Yes, they are a very well built and accurate weapon but as soon as I find a home for my G-23 I don't think I'll be missing Glocks at all!

That DEA agent would have still shot himself no matter what kind of gun he had for the simple fact that he is an idiot. If my child had been in that class then he would be a janitor(no disrespect to any janitors) at a Huddle House right now. If you are a resource officer in a school or a LEO responding to a call thats fine, but otherwise no one should be handling a loaded firearm in a school. If someone is doing a demonstration or presentation then the gun should be unloaded before entering the building. The guy takes his sidearm into a class full of kids, shoots his mouth off about him being the only one 'qualified' to show them how to operate it, clears the chamber before he drops the mag?????, shoots himself( What was it Darwin said.......), keeps on talking and then wants to pick up a long gun. If I were a student I would have left very quickly. And then he wants to sue the government because the video got out and his "rep and career were ruined". His career should be over and don't give me that crap about everyone makes mistakes.........

I believe QK is talking about the penetration under water on the plywood.
