The Bill of Rights: Void where prohibited by law.
Tops on my list, currently:
Handgun -- Colt Detective Special. Used to have one years ago and sold it. Looking for a good example at a decent price.
Rifle -- M1 Garand. Picked up an M1 Carbine a couple of months ago, now need to get its big brother. Will probably order one through the CMP, now that they have them available again.
Cheers,
Rod

A S&W J-frame, the 642. I'm really looking forward to having a gun that I can just slip in my pocket and run down to the market.

Fair enough; I'll clarify why the weapon isn't for me then.
The model I rented (couldn't tell you which, from memory) was very problematic and jammed frequently. I know we use cheap ammo, but I don't want to buy high-end ammo just to make a firearm work. The process of firing the weapon made it feel "clunky" to me, and it's a weirdly tall gun. I also don't particularly care for a weapon that won't be worked on by near anyone locally (not even sure if they offer an armorer's course).
If others enjoy their High Point, great! I simply don't have great experiences with a High Point weapon, and the above reasons outline why I would pass on owning one. There are other weapons you could buy that are known for reliability and durability that are as expensive or less expensive than High Point pistols.

Well, I'm waiting to take delivery of an 870P model 4903.
Hopefully, the next handgun will be a Les Baer TRS.

Of course I jinxed myself when I spent my bonus in my head before I got, and wouldn't you know it, life came up with other expenses to spend my bonus on. Oh well the year end bonus is not that far off.

There are still a few guns on my short list.
The one I buy next depends on which one shows up when I have the money, and what mood I'm in at the time.
Could be a compact .40, could be a lever gun in .357, could be a shottie. We'll have to wait and see. Could be something not even on my list!
That's the fun of buying guns.![]()
