    Auction sites

There are several gun auction sites, and two of the largest are gunbroker.com and auctionarms.com. If you go to these sites you can look at the results of current or completed auctions on thousands of guns. You will have to do a search to find the particular type of gun you are seeking, of course.

In looking at the numbers you must have some knowledge of how the different types of auctions work, as some of the numbers can be misleading. I generally look at those with "buy it now" prices, as these are the prices that the seller is willing to take right now to end the auction.

    Here is another resource:

When you’re wounded and left on Afghanistan’s plains,
And the women come out to cut up what remains,
Just roll to your rifle and blow out your brains,
And go to your God like a soldier.

I too have been surprised that there is no resource on the net that provides firearm values. Heck you can find values for just about everything online EXCEPT a gun....go figure.

The downside of looking at a book is that it is just an individual or a small group of people's opinions on what they should be worth. Looking at auction sites shows what they are actually selling at. Looking at multiple sales on multiple sites will give you a good range.
