    Kimber compacts a problem??

I was at a local gun store and was inquiring about the Kimber Ultra's and the Springfield Sub/Compacts. The guy told me that there have been problems with the Kimbers jamming, etc... where the Springfields had no problems at all.
    Any ideas on this?
One note: He did mention that it only worked properly with specific ammo.

He has them both but did mention that the Ultra's were more ammo specific. They tended to jam with regular ammo.

dont listen to anyone who is looking to sell you a gun.
i have the kimber ultra aegis and have no problems with it.
granted i would have gotten the SA EMP if it were available, but i dont regret my discussion. both make excellent guns.

I have both, and each is reliable. I would not pay much attention to the gun store salesmen.

I personally prefer the SA, and have found their CS among the best in the industry, and better than Kimber.
But if I liked the Kimber better that is what I would buy.

    Regards,
    Jerry

They're both well-made and reliable. My Ultra CDP II is just an outstanding handgun. As was said before, the guy in the store probably makes more on the SAs.

My Kimber Compact Stainless II is and has been totally reliable, no matter what ammo I feed it. From reduced load lead SWC through any hollow point it always goes bang, cycles and feeds itself properly.
Just incidentally, it is quite accurate, has an excellent trigger and conceals well.

My Ultra Carry II works just fine. I carry it with hydroshocks. 100% reliable.

My gun guy does not make much because he tells people how it is. Guys will go in there looking for a specific thing and Coyote (gun guy) will ask them what they need it for and recommend what would be a good gun for them. They usually argue with him and he cusses them out and they leave.

I like doing business there because he does not beat around the bush and tells it like it is.

When I was looking for a 1911 he basically said that for what I wanted and what I was looking to spend, I couldn't go wrong with either the SA or the Kimber.

I ended up choosing SA because I got it a little cheaper and got it with Target sites.

BTW, he taught me how to cast bullets for free on his own time.

Honestly Kimbers with external extractors have had problems across the model line . Also across the line Kimbers with aluminum frames have had issues with SOME mags that have sharp edged steel followers ( the feed ramp gets chewed up ) . Other than the two issues i mentioned i know of no issues with compact kimbers , and the issues i mentioned are not compact specific . Any time you take a .45 below 4" tho ( commander sized ) they can and do get picky about what they will run with unless you luck out on tolerance stack and everything works out perfect .
Make sure you get full value out of today , Do something worthwhile, because what you do today will cost you one day off the rest of your life .
