    Springfield GI ?

I have come across what I think would be a good deal. A Springfield Armory GI Full-Size Stainless Steel (PW9151LP) seen below. The asking price... $375. Seem like a good price?

I guess my main concern is whether I should consider making this purchase or whether I should put the money towards a Mil-Spec or Loaded model. I currently have a Loaded Champion Lightweight that is okay, but nothing special in my opinion. For those of you who have a GI, what are your impressions and do you carry them at all?

Thanks in advanced for any responses.

I used to own two Springfield 1911 GIs, the stainless, and parkerized models. Both were great shooters, but the low profile sights made it kind of difficult to get back on target. The Springfield GI is also a great base platform to start your own custom job. The standard ejection port on the GI tends to dent the spent brass, but if you don't reload, then that won't matter. The Springfield GI is a great shooter, and is a mirror image of the original WWII Colt 1911.

I currently own the Springfield Mil-Spec, and it's alot like the GI, except for it has taller 3-dot sights, lowered ejection port, stainless barrel, and beveled mag well. $375 for the GI is a steal, as I find them going for between 549, and almost 600 dollars.

I paid $500 for my Stainless Springer. I'd get it.

I'd jump on it. I plan to pick up a GI for a custom CCW here in the near future.

That's an amazing price for that. And like was previously mentioned, it is a great base for customizing. I actually carried mine stock daily for over two years now.

If you can't afford to customize it, wait for a loaded model. But if you can do some customizing in the not too distant future, I would definitely take it because you are getting a good price on a good base weapon.

If you decide not to take it, I, like other, sure would like to know where it is, because I will buy it.

So, have you bought it yet? If not, why? That's a great deal on a great gun, and if I found one at that price I wouldn't hesitate for a second to snag it!

I have a Parkerized Government model and love it!

    Cheers! M2

Great deal! They are over $500 in my area. Ihave the Parkerized version of the GI and it's been a great shooter. For carry I'd want better sights, but that's about all it would have to have.

No I haven't bought it yet. I think I should but I want the end result with a little bit of custom work to be a very reliable work horse.
