    Taurus 650-SS2 Opinions.

    Hi,
I have the 85 right now, but want to step up to a hammerless .357.
    Any opinions on this one?
    http://www.taurususa.com/products/pr...egory=Revolver

    A couple of questions:

1.Is the S&W version much better?
2.Also, I like wearing my Gun OWB on a High Rise belt holster.
Anyone out there wearing one this way? What brand of Holster do you recommend on this Hammerless model?
3.How is the recoil on this model with .357 Cartridges?
    -Thanks in advance.

I have the 650 blue version and love it!!!!!!the best load in it is the speer .357 short barrel load, also the speer 125 gr. full house magnums aren't bad either, nice trigger, I wouldn't trade it for any S&W!!!!, i'm sure you will love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I pocket carry most of the time , in a DeSantis Nemesis pocket holster. I see no difference compared to a Smith the triggers are similar except the Taurus has a slicker trigger.

I have the 651 model and really like it. I have two cheap holsters from Uncle Mikes and they do really well. It works great for pocket carry or IWB. Im still finding good .357 ammo i like. So far Speer Lawman .38 + P is what I carry. Awesome gun.

    OWB.
The IWB's are uncomfortable to me.

i had to send my 650ss back 3 times for repairs ( $50 shipping got them to pay for the last one but it took a lot for time on the phone)before they fixed it wright. I aslo read many more that had the same problems with this model! the trigger will lock so it can not be pulled! I would have to open the cylinder then close it to get it to work! plus I was haveing light prime strikes!

I have one. It is a good gun and often carried either on me or in a car. I sometime carry 357's but usually 38's. The 357's are usually Golden Sabers. The quality of mine isn't to Smith levels, but neither was the price. It does what it is supposed to do. If I were to carry it OWB mostly there is little advantage over the 85 as far as the concealed hammer. I would consider carrying a 38 with Corbon rounds which will bring it about up to the 357 level. Maybe you could rent one (or something similar) to get a feel for it.

I have the 605 with Taurus Combat Grips. I only have shot full house 357s out of it. I can handle it with no problems and it shoots the 125grn. to point of aim out to 60 or 70 feet. Accurate and a smooth action.

I have a blued 650 and have shot about 150 rounds through it with no problems. Seems like good value for the money.

taurus makes a good gun and they are somewhat lower in price than the s&w. as with most guns you can have a problem and the gun will have to go back for repairs. look around for a used one, either brand. hard to beat a good used gun. you can not go wrong with either brand.

I have the 651 Stainless and love it (picked it up used).

I had a cheap Uncle Mikes holster for it while deciding which good holster to get.
I went with the UBG Canute, it's IWB but he also makes OWB's.

I haven't necessarily settled on ammo, but currently have Speer Gold Dot Short Barrel ammo for it (I think it's the 125gr, will have to check when I get home)

I have a Taurus 605 blued and love it. I do carry .38spl +P in it because of faster followup shots that full power .357's
