Nice gun! One of the originals - they're kinda ugly, but work great IME. Enjoy your new friend!

Nice one. My late uncle had a Model 59, considered one of these when I first got a permit. Brings back memories.

Obviously, this gun is a used one.

One of the mags that came with it are stamped :
Smith & Wesson Springfield MA RESTRICTED Export, Law Enforcement,
and Government Use Only S/N xxxxx
Its just a normal 15 round mag. Does that stamp mean that the mag was made during the ban on 10 rounds and more, and it was just a law enforcement issued mag? I do know that during the ban, the "civilian" version was the same but it came with a 10 round mag...and obviously now you can have a hi-cap mag.

I think it was a police trade in....there are some rub marks on the grip consistent with someone falling while holstered....and the law enforcement mag...

You'll be happy with it. I've had one on my nightstand/in my car for the better part of 16 years now. BG's have seen the business end of it twice in the that time, and that was enough to end the situation...

I just got back from the range.

The sights need adjustment, I was able to group well but is wasn't where I was aiming.

I had 4 FTEs. Each of them were with Winchester 115gr FMJ rounds. I shot 100 of them all together.

I shot 100 Winchester 147gr JHP rounds and didn't have any sort of problems at all. They cycled like they should, ejected like they should, ect...

So all together I pumped 200 rounds...The FMJs didn't do too well, but the JHP rounds did perfect.

The recoil is a little less then I expected, probably cause the damn thing weighs a ton fully loaded with 16 rounds.

I had one of those years ago... it was a good pistol! Once you get 'er dialed in and figure out what she likes to feed on, she should serve you well for a very long time!

The guy I got it from said it does really well with the 147gr Winchester JHP rounds. He said he shot about 300 of them and never had a problem. I didn't have any problems with them either, so thats going to be my load for the time being. Later on, I'll bring some CorBon and Speer Gold Dot with me to the range to see how those do.
