I thought you meant people. I trust my best friend with my life but I wouldn't buy a used car from him.

I carry a Springfield XD, but I wouldn't be afraid to carry any of the choices. Much more important than which gun is how well you do your part. (To include avoiding bad situations)

Springfield 1911 / HK USP. Why cause I can shoot well with both these guns.

My H&K USP .40 (compact) draws lightning fast out of my SS3. It has NEVER had a malfunction, what so ever. I have had it very dirty from time to time as well (Bad Boy). Still runs like a top. Lightning fast magazine changes (I love the trigger guard mounted ambadextrious mag release).

I love my Taurus M-85 BUG as well. It's more accurate that the USP Ha Ha Ha, only 5 shots though.

A number of manufacturers produce guns based on the 1911 platform, so pick who you like.

I was raised on the 1911A1 and it is completely natural to me. It fits me, it shoots well and, in its original configuration, is extremely reliable. In almost 100 years of service, it has proven itself as a gunfighter's gun.

I would not recommend it as a beginner's gun. You have to put yourself into it to get the most out of it. For example, condition 1, IMHO, is the fastest, safest way a gun can be deployed, but the thumb safety must become second nature.

A .45 makes a big hole without expanding.

I completely understand why law enforcement and the military choose Glocks and M9s for their front line troops, but special ops units carry 1911s.

In no way am I ragging on polymer guns, 9MM, etc. Different guns work best for different people. I'm happy we have choices.

At the present time I am carrying an XD45 compact. However I also will carry my Glock22 at times. So I trust my life to both .

I trust my Glock 21, .45acp implicitly. It has never failed to go bang when needed. (At the range.)

1911 is a little vague, but I know that you can't list all the makers of 1911s...

There are some that I would not trust my life with.

But for me it's Les Baer.

Sig Sauer, the other handgun that defends America. (The one that only lost to Beretta on cost per unit for the M-9.)
