I use my carry gun(Glock 34) and carry rig ( Blade tech Universal Glock IWB)and Blade tech single mag pouches.

In fact all I do after I arrive at the match is unchamber the round in my pistol and grab my FMJ ammo and mags and replace the HP ammo loaded mags. I do have to move the holster back to where it is IDPA legal- I normally wear it about 2 o'clock-but other than that it is no different. And since i normally wear untucked polo shirts at work that is what I wear at the matches.

i dont do 'official' idpa, but we do have a 'practical pistol club' here which is pretty much the exact same thing. granted i only have one gun, but even if i had more i would use my primary carry. that is the point!
i do it because its fun and good practice. using a different gun or different method of carrying because i would get a better score is ridiculous!

There isn't a check box for "sometimes," that would be accurate for me. When I originally started, it was all the time, then I got 1911 fever.

I've never shot IDPA, but I did shoot my first IPSC match (Brasilian style!) the other day - and I used my normal carry gun, gear, etc. I was behind the curve a bit against all the race guns and race rigs, but I held my own...maybe I should do a post about it...

YEP! Gotta use what you carry for the "practice" (match) to be realistic and to reap the gains of it being real practice. Using a different gun with a different grip angle or manual of arms would be silly in my opinion....and potentially detrimental should your carry piece ever need to be drawn into action. I know that, other than the mental issues, should i ever draw my gun and fire there is a high probability that whatever is my intended target will be hit simply from the way i have proven to myself how i performed with it in competition. Granted targets don't shoot back nor do they run very far. lol

I use my primary (gun, holster, mag pouches, belt, clothing) in IDPA and other action shoots i become involved in. My primary goal is to become a better shooter with the equipment I use every day. My goal is NOT to beat so and so on the times.

I've always shot my carry gun in IDPA, IPSC and informal Practical Pistol matches.

Since my EDC is a .45 (Sig GSR), to save money I picked up a Springfield loaded 9mm. I got it set up as close as possible to my GSR (ambi controls, night sights, etc) and I run it from the same leather.

The 1st time ...well only time I shot IDPA I WANTED to use my Warrior...but had problems with the S&A magwell -VS- new style Wilson mags so I sot it with my Talon II with is (one mf my)my primary carry pieces.

I thought about taking my XD for the higher capacity mags, but I figured I need all the practice I can get with the 1911 seeing as I choose to carry it.
