    Speed-Six Improvement

I recently aquired an original 2 3/4" stainless model, I plan to make this my primary CCW weapon. I'm looking for a better grip and front sight. Obviously this is personal, but what worked best for you?

    trausch grips

Hi , I'm new to the site and saw your question . I assume you have a Ruger speed six ? I personally LOVE Ruger revolvers ........anyways I just got rid of a speed six I've carried for about 8 yrs. . It was parkerized with a Trausch grip . This grip can be purchased on line . For carrying it puts your hand in perfect position along with a great rubber grip . I also have a standard rubber grip with Ruger medallion I got from CDNN SPORTS . either way these grips will surely satisfy your needs . If you find the trausch grip let me know I have an extra . It's the go to gun in my house, in a Cannon Lock Box.
Pachmayr Compac (closed back strap) grips.
There used to be a company that sold a
replacement red ramp front sight. I have one on mine.
It's loaded with Corbon DPX 357.
You could use it as a hammer to build a house.
and it would continue to function perfectly.
I've had mine for a good 30 years.
I also have a 4 inch Security Six with,
Pachmayr Grippers, the same front sight
as the Speed Six and a white outline rear sight.
    It's loaded with Federal 125 grain 357.
Both guns came with instructions to dry fire them 200 times.
That was unheard of in those days.
It shows you how Ruger felt about the strength of their guns.
I have Smiths and Colts too. But for emergencies,
    I'll stick to my Rugers.

Ruger builds tanks when it comes to guns. I have 6 Rugers and they are great.

I had a security six for a while, with adjustable sights, but was under the impression there wasn't much you could do with the sights on the speed six other than a dab of paint, and nothing to "true them up"

I've replaced the front sights on mine with millet red ramps replacements. They are a simple swap out and are great. you have to call millet direct because no one carries them anymore.
