I was going to tell you to RTFwebsite, but then I saw they don't list it! I don't know for sure, I'd have to measure mine. I can tell you they definitely feel wider in the slide area (and grips) than my 1911's. Overall width with the 1991 safeties may be similar (esp. an ambi), but on the whole a 1911 conceals easier.
I have an XD.45 and an XD .40. Without getting out the calipers. Yes they are the same width.
Hmm... give me a few minutes, I'll go grab the calipers.

Thank ou. You made me realize that I didn't know where my calipers actually were.
The top of the slide measures in at 31/32nds of an inch, the grip is 1 7/32nd inches and the widest part (at the slide release) is 1 9/32nds of an inch. My SA GI 1911 is 1 3/8ths inches at the grip, and 15/16ths of an inch at the slide. Give or take. Hope this helps.

Actually, the .45 and the .40 are a bit larger in the slide than the 9mm. I know this because I recently spoke with one of the guys at Comp-tac about the XD's. It probably wouldn't make a difference with a leather holster, but since the kydex holsters are molded so exactly they have to know. Of course, the difference is probably very minimal so you probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference while carrying.
