I for one like the Glock 17 for home, and carry the G19 or Walther PPKs when headed to town. I agree with others on for HD you don’t need a pocket gun, instead you need a larger platform for stability.
The reason I say that is; some of the time your HD weapon of choice will be call upon is when you’re awoken from a deep sleep.
I also agree with your choice of a 9 mm. Higher capacity, light recoil, and yet with the right ammo, capable of incapacitating a THUG with one shot to the chest 91 percent of the time.
As to which HD weapon you should choice, let the fun begin and go shopping, and buy the quality weapon that feels best in your hand.

I am a big Sig fan, but if the logistics are an issue I would (as much as I dislike them) say go with the Block... I mean Glock

Money is not an factor: SIG P226, great gun without being too expensive.
Money is a factor: Glock 17 or 19, just great guns - reliable, nice capacity.
These are the best reliable guns. My SIG P226 and Glock 19 are the both loaded and ready as my primary home defense guns.

Current: DW V-Bob 1911, S&W 442, Springfield XD9sc, XDm9,
and Glock G26, G19, G23C, and SIG P226-40 TT, and Ruger GP-100, and Beretta 92FS
Former: Taurus 92SS, SIG P220 TT, S&W 360, SIG P239-40, Ruger 22/45 MKII
Browning HP and Surefire G2Z because thats whats handy and loaded right now.
And its the only 9MM I own.
G17+2 mag; good flashlight; if you can get ghost ring rearsight and dot front night sights it would be a plus
If it is strictly home defense and it must be 9mm, I would say G17. If you would like to carry it concealed as well, I would say G19.

It is better to have your gun and not need it, than to need it and not have it!
You cannot choose the conditions for a gunfight, so train in all conditions!
My choice(s) would be:
Maybe a couple more, but there you go.
Glock 19, if I had to go with a 9mm...
[QUOTE=Agave;542593]A mí me siento muy cómodo con mi Ruger P95. Por supuesto, tal vez haya una pistola más buena en opinión de los otros. Creo que la mejor pistola es la una con que tú puedes disparar con la mejor habilidad.
What did you say about my momma..Never diss my momma...
I know, I know, you are smarter than me..just ask you..
For home defense, a Glock 19 or Glock 17 (depending on your hand size) with a laser/light combo and good night sights. The Glock laser/light works very well.
I have a Glock 17 and a Glock 34 both in this configuration.
Glock 19 hands down with Trijicons or Mepro's.
