Pros - Common parts, magazines, accessories. Long history of use and people understand what makes it run well, and what can cause it to not run well (bad magazines). Easy availability of gunsmiths who can work on it. Manufactured by a long time, top performing company. Uses the same mags as the Storm Carbine.

Cons - Its big. Its heavy. It will not be the easiest thing to carry concealed. It doesn't offer you any great advantage over smaller, lighter guns with the same accuracy, reliability or capacity.

Good, reliable, respectable firearm. Way too big for it's own good.

    Pros...
Runs and feeds about anything due to the open slide design
shoots great...what is known as great shootability
    holds a lot of rounds
    lots of accessorys and holsters

    Cons
    Ugly
too big for some peoples hands
exposed barrel due to open slide, if pressed against BG will not fire due to being out of battery
very big gun for the caliber
    Ugly
Open slide design lends itself to contamination with sand, mud, etc.
    Coyote ugly.

    Did I mention ugly?

Beretta 92D - Double action only, no safety

I believe the poster is asking about the Beretta 92D, which is a variant of the 92 that has no safety, and a double action only trigger system. Here is what it looks like:

I can't add any comment as I am not familiar with this model.

I used the military version for a while, whilst in the Army. I never had any problems with jamming or anything. I just can't stand the caliber, especially for the size. Small caliber, big pistol.

If you just like 9mm, then they're are much smaller designs that would be better suited for CC.

Double action only Beretta… What’s the point?

If you want a double action only sidearm with no safety, why not buy a Glock, or Walther PPS.

    Well, that’s my 2-cents worth.

I regularly see firearm instructors strip the barrel and slide off of a 92 in less than a second just to illustrate a design flaw...

    Pretty easy trick to learn.

    More info

    Yes the gun is ugly.

Saw a good price ($270) for a used one and was curious

    I dont like glocks.

I am looking for a good DAO gun for carry because I am leaning toward this. I dont like guns that switch from 1st shot being DA and all the rest SA. I want either SA as my Hipower or 1911, or more DA like my Kahr PM9.

So far I have looked at Sigs w/DAK trigger. Walther P99. HK USP DAO and FNP-9.

    More thoughts? Please!

    DAO 9mm for carry

Since this is for CCW, I would suggest that the Beretta 92, while a good range gun and a bargain at the price you mentioned, is rather large and heavy for CCW. It is really more of a high capacity open carry gun for police or military use, I think. You already have a High Power that would fill this role, and I would think you'd like something smaller and concealable in 9mm.

Since you already have the Kahr PM9, a pocket gun, perhaps for belt carry you should look at the model K9, which is a 25 ounce steel gun with 7+1 capacity. It would give you the DAO trigger you want, and is very thin and concealable.

I wouldn't advise trying it! You would probably wind up with a gut full of lead!

Well I haven't seen that done but will take your word for it. I do think that if I were serious enough to have drawn my Beretta it would be a foolish man indeed who would grab at my gun barrel.

The 92 is a great weapon..but its BIG. Trying to carry in the summer would be a bit difficult, winter would be easy enuff to conceal.. You metioned SIG and this is what is going to be my next purchase, a sig 239 sas
