Question M&P Mag Safety or no?

I am looking at getting a Smith and Wesson M&P 9c and I am not sure if I want the model with the magazine safety or not. For those of you who may not know, the magazine safety makes it impossible to fire a round in the chamber if the magazine is out. I beleive that this is intended for police officers in case someone is trying to take control of their weapon they can just drop the magazine and the gun will not fire. I really like the idea of the magazine safety but it also seems like it's just one more thing that can break. The non-magazine safety model is also $24 less than the version with the magazine safety. So what's your guys' take on this?

Also, anyone who owns an M&P 9c how do you like it?

    I bought mine without it,

I love it. I don't have to have that one more thing to worry about.

roughtly about 2500 rounds down the pipe, flawless.

I own a 9c and absolutely love it. Mine does not have the mag release safety. My other guns have a mag safety and I honestly don't miss it on my 9c. I am not for or against a mag safety, it just happens that mine does not have it. I have 700 wwb rounds through it, and 76 gold dots through it and absolutely NO jams, NO ftf, NO fte, NO hiccups whatsoever. If you are considering an M&P I would say go for it, they are great little handguns. As far as the mag safety, like I said I am neither for it or against it. Any kind of safety isn't 100% guaranteed to work. Having a mag safety doesn't mean your gun is 100% safe when no mag is in. Remember anything mechanical can fail or break. HAving an empty gun with a mag safety doesn't 100% guarantee against ad. T

I have a M&P .40c w/ the mag disconnect and have never really noticed it. What I mean is that I rarely dry fire my piece, so it's no big deal for me. Personally I like the safety feature for the reasons expressed by other people, no big deal.
At first I had some trouble with the slide locking back before the mag was empty, and one time the striker did fail to touch the round off, but after 100 rds it all went away. Now it is my favorite carry piece, now it has about 1200 rds and shoots great and gives me no trouble!!!

I have 2 M&Ps. I really like them. Both of mine came with the mag safety, but I will be changing out the sear housing blocks to no-mag safety versions.

    Would that void your warranty?

I don't believe so. I am not modifying the internals I am replacing them with factory parts. If I sent it in I don't think S&W would notice any difference. I am also a S&W certified M&P armorer so maybe that would score me some points. Bottom line, I'm not worried about it.

I have the MP9c with out the mag safety. The reason I chose that model is you never know what can happen when the SHTF. Lets say the mag dropped but you still had one in the chamber, you can still take care of business. Either way they both are good inexpensive guns...

I like the mag safety on my .40c I load one in the chamber and then pop out magazine to re-holster safely. With a full mag ofcourse. That way there would be no chance of AD when its pointed at my junk.

I have a M&P 40c without the mag disconnect for the reason stated above.
