If you carry upwards of 12 or so rounds either in one magazine or in a combination of magazines or BUGs speak up. What is your set up to get to high end capacity and do you feel just a little naked with less fire power.

Glock 29 = two 10 round mags = 20 rounds
Glock 17 = two 17 round mags = 34 rounds
I am sworn to protect the Constitution of the U.S.A. from all threats both foreign and domestic.
Now I have carried Mr SIG for three years I confess I would feel a shade less prepared if I still had just my SP-101, even with speedloader extra.
That said of course, as many folks reckon - ''if five rounds won't do it - you're probably screwed anyways!".
My 226 gives me 15+1 - and the mag is totally proven and so - even if I have no extra mag which is not uncommon, I feel I have something spare in hand. Plus as I say often - I like large and heavy - so capacity is an integral bonus.
Having that capacity does not mean it has to run dry by any means ... I would hope otherwise but ''contingency'' seems the word to apply![]()

13+1 in my USP 40. Or 7+1 with a 8 rnd spare mag with my SA champ.

With and extra mag on my person (two more in the car)...I feel comfortable...

Most double stack polymer guns give you high capacity, as the entire grip volume is available for the magazine, with no space wasted on grip panels. In the past I've carried a Glock 19 (15+1 9mm) and a Glock 23 (13+1 .40 S&W).
But when I want significant capacity plus a very large bullet, I use this H&K USP 45, which holds 12+1 rounds of 230 grain ammo. That is 4 rounds more than a full size 1911.

Glock 23. 13+1 in the pistol, two mags of 13. Total of 40 rounds. Sometimes (rare) I'll just carry one extra mag in a pocket for 27 rounds total.
Anything less than that and I feel like I'd have too little.

Wow, tall order. If I'm carrying my Sig 226, 9mm, I carry 2 extra 15 round mags plus 1 chambered. My Baer's use 8 round mags, plus my Bug using 5 rounds of 357. So I'm somewhere between 22 rounds with a Sig 220 and 239 + my Bug and 51 rounds for carrying my 226 with a BUG.

Two 8 round mags +1 in the pipe, and 6 in the bug with no spare mag.

I carry a 5 shot chief's special, but I am thinking about going to a six shot revolver! Now THAT is high capacity\
God Bless
Six for sure...Uh, I mean Five. Five for sure..
I carry either G19 or G17 seasonally. I don't top off the mag, so capacity is 15 and 17 respectively.
I carry one spare mag because a) that's how I train, so I want to carry the same way, b) weight distro helps lower back, c) comfort level. That said, almost all gunfights are finished by the rounds already in your gun, which is why I want high capacity.
12+1 SA XD 40sc works for me. Carry a spare mag sometimes. Extra 12 or 9.
Kimber LE -3 8rd mags.
BUG Colt Defender- 2 7rd mags.
Total 38rds
Didn't realize it but there's a similar post in CC Issues and Discussions. Thanks for replys.
The AWB and so-called high capacity magazine deal started in 1994 and ended in 2004, over 3 years ago.
No, matter how many rounds in your magazine that fit into your firearm, it is just a standard capacity magazine. Period. Not a high capacity magazine, it is just standard magazine because that is what fits in your firearm without modification of the firearm.
Bill Ruger with Ruger started this 10 round deal for handguns in the early 1990's - which is why we ended up this 10 round limit on magazines in 1994 under Clinton. The 10 round became in the standard capacity and anything above 10 rounds became high capacity, it is all bull and many still continue to think that way even though the AWB and 10 round magazine ended in 2004.
