Bobbing hammer on S&W 637
I am wanting to "bob" the hammer on my 637. Of you that have done it or know how, do you have to disassemble the gun first or just mask it off good, then use the cutting wheel of a Dremel? I'm still going to leave just a little nub, just in case you ever wanted a SA shot. Any pics you have of yours would be appreciated.

Definately remove the hammer, and make sure to clean well before installing it. Not a bad job if you're handy.

Thanks Mo. Not a bad idea to purchase a second hammer. How much roughly do they run?

About $45. I got mine through Midway, took about a month as a special order. Make sure you order the proper model, mine was a 637-2 MIM part.

On my 37 I just touched it to the grinder and ground it down still in the gun. I left about 1/4 " stick out so I can pinch it with 2 fingers and still cock it if I felt the need.

I just bobbed the hammer on my 637 and it looks identical to the pictured in this thread. The gunsmith who did it removed the hammer, cut the thumb piece off with a grinding wheel and then smoothed it out on a grinder. I was worried about light primer strikes but I immediately took it to the range and it performed flawlessly.
If we treat every gun as if it was loaded, then why not treat every individual as if they are armed.
