Bersa pistols have an excellent reputation. I know their Thunder .380ACP model is extremely popular.
I wouldn't mind owning one (.380ACP) but I've never held a Thunder .45,so its possible I could really like it.

I've had one for about a year now with no problems at all; best bang for the buck there is out there.
Check out the 'bersatalk forum; plenty of happy owners there.
Mines been perfect. My slide spring's a little weak, sent it in, and they did nothing to it! Shoots fine, just spits the brass back hard sometimes!

I think they did have problems with weak recoil springs a couple years ago; if yours is that old, i'd just order a new spring from eagleimports and replace it myself.
I did the same thing with my 1911...put in a heavier spring and what a difference! Davidson's is selling the Bersa .45 for $361 in its "gun locator" section....

I've had one for about 4 years and after a few early problems with FTF/FTE due to weak recoil springs, I replaced them and have shot close to 1,000 rds since with no problems. Like someone else has already said, it's the best bang for the buck there is out.

The only possible complaint I might have with it is the grip is a little on the fat side. If you plan on concealing this I'd check it first. I believe the mag is double-stack too and I can get more rounds in my single stack 1911's for the same overall height AND a slimmer grip.
Can't help on the Thunder 45, but I do have a Thunder 40 in satin nickel and love too shoot it. I find the grip a little large. I often use it as the console gun in my truck.
i have owned a Bersa Thunder 45 for years and is a good solid performer. Mine also has a weak spring/sloppy slide but it has never bobbled. I spoke to Alex Hamilton (member of the Pistolsmiths Guild) about a heavier recoil spring and he said leave it a lone. Alex thinks it is a fine inexpensive pistol. I, therefore, accept his word and I will continue to use mine as is. Regards, Richard![]()
