officers acp vs. snubnose?
In your opinion does a colt officers acp have any real advantage over a colt cobra for balistics and stoping power? I ask as I own both and carry one or the other often. I feel there are pros and cons to both gun for differant reasons,I love my cobra but feel a bit better with the officers model. I know the .45 is bigger than the .38 and some like this better but out of the officer's 3 1/2in" barrel is here a huge differance?
The little 1911 hides easier due to being flatter and to me recoils a bit less than the cobra. Follow up shots are easier with the officers model as well. As far as reliability goes I've never has any issues with either gun in that area. And my only mods to my officers model are wilson mags and a clarks recoil spring plug.
So do you guys feel like a 3 1/2" 1911 gain anything over a snub nose revolver?

I believe in one platform for all carry guns. I choose to carry 1911's. If your preference is DA wheelguns, stick with it. Both are great handguns, I just don't like to see folks switching back and forth in the event of a tragedy.

Either one will do the job if you do yours. So stick with the one you like the best.

Here's a pic of my OACP. I would take it any day over a snub revo as a primary BUT, if I needed a second handgun, the snub would make a good BUG for the OACP.

Comparison of Cobra and Officers
The Colt Cobra is a .38 snubby that gives you 6 rounds of capacity and a bullet with about 225 foot pounds of muzzle energy, using the Speer 135 grain +P Gold Dot ammo.
The Colt Officers is a .45 with 3.5 inch barrel that gives you 8 rounds of capacity (with 7 round magazines) and about 400 ft-lbs of muzzle energy, using the Speer 185 grain Gold Dot ammo.
So the Officers provides 33% more capacity and 78% more energy per shot than the Cobra, along with faster reloads. If you found the guns equal in concealability and reliability, the Officers model is a considerably more potent gun based on the ballistics and capacity.

I would go with my LW OACP, over my Dick Special.

How about a .45" hole as opposed to a .357" hole. I guess that is good for a start along with the fact that the recoil in the Officer is not as stout as the snubby's. Regards, Richard
