Well, being a native Floridian, it is always sort of a treat and adventure to have cold weather and dress up for the occasion . My normal carry is a Kahr 9mm in a little owb slide holster under a hawaiian shirt or T-shirt. Last week the temperatures dropped into the high 20's and I was able to "dress up" with layers topped by an old fatigue jacket so I took the opportunity to carry a full size S&W M&P in a Serpa holster on my belt. As I was walking 2 big dogs in the dark, I thought that if I needed the weapon, it would take forever to get to it and actually bring it out. I'd probably have to drop the dogs leashes, flashlight, and fumble around . Really didn't ever think of what type challenges face those of you in really cold climates. The next day I went out and bought a Kel-tec P3AT to drop into a coat pocket as a BUG when I decide to carry heavier than normal in the cold.
If your S&W was in a Serpa holster I don't see it taking very long for you to present your weapon. I wear my G23 in a Serpa at times. When I wear a heavy jacket, I just sweep it back with the drawing hand and present. Dog leash in left hand, one handed draw with the right.
Perhaps your are wearing your Serpa underneath too many layers. You can conceal it well under just your fatigue jacket. Maybe leave the holster out from under the other layers.
But if the KT works for you, then that is all that matters.

I'm almost the opposite. I like it when it finally cools down too. I usually carry iwb and look fwd to being able to carry comfortably owb and just throw a light jacket or sweater on and not worry about it.

Back up to 82 deg today......sigh.
Yep...three days of levi's, and now it's back to the shorts...gotta' love FL!
I pretty much carry the same Kimber Ultra...in warm or cold weather.

Since we're on the topic I used to live in Wauchula over in Hardee County ... I remember once it got down to 29 one night BRRRRRRRR. The deal is - carrying in cold weather like that is much easier. All you have to do is wear a button-up shirt draping loose over your other clothes - maybe a big sweater - and all of a sudden you can carry a Ruger Alaskan w/o printing.
So - cold weather is the friend of CCW'ers. :) Since leaving Florida, I've seen cold weather a couple times here in MN.
Winter wear in Florida? You mean, socks with the sandles? (see below)
Yeah, colder weather can introduce some choices. For me, it means that it's simpler to cover up that IWB or OWB option, since larger and heavier coats and overgarments are now not given a second glance. YMMV.

Winter in Florida?? I was looking for the punch line.......
It gets steamy hot here in Ky and I look forward to the temps below 50. I just love colder weather. I also hate having to try to dress around a gun in hot weather. It's either a smaller gun or more clothes.
In the winter I try to just keep my coat open ( if possible ). Also I sometimes carry a 642 in a coat pocket plus my XD OWB.. I dread this summer.
Hey, we do have winter! all 2 weeks of it under 60 degrees is South Florida. The again is 10 months of 90 degree weather and some 700% humidity.
We would enjoy our winters better, but we have to contend with the canadians

Just so's the rumor doesn't get rolling: no, those spindly, black-socked things aren't mine. The pic is one randomly found off the internet. For my money, I think Chris is wintering in Pensacola ...
