My favorite gun :)
This is a discussion on FN's Five-seveN® Pistol within the Defensive Carry Guns forums, part of the Defensive Carry Discussions category; My favorite gun :)...
I put about 200 rds thru mine this past sunday .. its a nice gun ... I didnt think I would like it
seeing how most everything I owned previous to this purchase was a .45 of some sorts ..
with the 2 noted exceptions a Ruger GP100 ( 357 magnum ) and Glock 33 ( 357 sig )
over all the five seven in my opinion is a nice weapon ... people say it doesnt have the stopping
power of a .45 and doesnt have good reports on terminal ballistics ..
well I figure with 20 shots its gonna do something ...
in the end .. to each their own ... I will most likely carry my one of my .45's or else the Glock 33
on a daily basis ...
Their biggest drawbacks, in my opinion, is the size/shape of the grip. Its just not that comfortable, and I shoot a Glock 20 with no problem or discomfort.
Very little recoil, more like a snappy .22. High capacity. Those are all pluses. The ammo still doesn't have me 100% convinced, but it must be effective considering that the SBR P90's for the military don't have much longer of a barrel.
When I shot one, my impression was more that it was an interesting concept rather than a serious weapon. If I had to go into a combat situation where I was allowed one pistol and one long gun but they both had to be the same caliber, than the P90 and the 57 would probably be at the top of my list.
It's on my to-buy list, but thanks to the price tag it will be a while.
