Giving My Old Carry Gun a New Flava! Glock Porn

My carry gun is pretty steady at my G23 or G27.

I sand blasted my G34 with playground sand and it came out pretty nice by buddy did his after he saw mine and he used a heavier sand which made the slide maintain a darker hughso then I decided to have him do my G23. Anway it came out pretty nice here you go.

Looks nice, but won't the slide rust now?

    Stainless steel "look"

I think Rocky may be right about the possible rust on your Glock slide, which is now bare steel. You should keep it protected from moisture and wipe it frequently with light oil, I believe.

I like the metallic look of your slide, however. I have a G23 with the same look, because the original owner of the gun had the slide hard chromed. Hard chrome is a great finish for guns, as it is extremely hard to resist scratching, and also prevents rust of the underlying steel. Here is a shot of my G23:

He removed the black coating, the Tenifer treatment penetrates a few microns in to the steel = no rust.

This brings up a really funny story. I have this cop friend. Who was in pursuit of a robbery suspect. When he caught the guy, he pulled a stainless Ruger Single SiX 22.

The cop said why do you have this. As in like why are you robbing people with a Stainless .22. As in you might want something more effective.

I am seriously going to have to figure out a way to use "chromanated" in a conversation today...

And I like the "two-tone" look on the pictured Glocks. We see so many stock Glocks (I suppose because they don't require much tinkering) that any change is good... :)

I don't think the Hard Chrome is a bad idea, but taking a sandblaster to my G23 is just something I am not prepared to do.
Sure the Tenifer penetrates a few microns, but how many of those microns did you just remove? I am not a metal expert, but it sounds like a huge problem waiting to happen. Let us know how it looks in a few months.

Well, I have a tendency to agree on possible problems with it in the future. I would think you could polish the slide with something like rubbing compound (automotive) for the same effects?

The more and more I think about it I may go with the clear coat option.

Now that's funny right there.......I don't care who ya are.....!

Now more on topic......I've got a G23 I think would look good with a sand-blasted make-over. I believe I'll look into a few finishes. May just decide toget it "cromonated".
