    Question Gunsite 1911

I'm thinking about purchasing a Smith and Wesson 1911pd Gunsite Edition. I was wondering if any of you could give me your opinions and insights. For instance are there any common malfunctions, and what is a good price point for the pistol? I'm considering using this as my new EDC, so any input will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I don't know anything about the new editions. I can say that in the last few years, the Gunsite name has been prostituted. Back when Ted Yost was the smith there, a true Gunsite pistol meant something. Now that they're being pumped out of the same factory as the other models, it's just a stolen name.

Even before Yost, when Robbie Barrkman was building them, but it's not just a stolen name, they pay for the privilege.

True OD, but it's still a slap in the face of the name. Just because Ford bought the rights to the name "Shelby", it doesn't make them one!

    That could be.

All I know is, I like my "new" Gunsite.

The Gunsite 1911 is going to be my next, and third S&W 1911.

I have the 1911PD and 1911SC and both are excellent weapons! Accurate and flawless so far. The SC is now my EDC!

My gunsite is great, I can put 5 rds center target the size of a quarter at 10 yds., something I could never do with my XD 45 or 9mm sc. My Colt Defender is 4 ozs. lighter at 24 oz, but the 1911PD has a 4.25 length and holds 8 rds. I paid $839 on sale, but the average cost I was find was more around $899-999. I've put about 500 rds of 230 gr. Blazer through it with no malfunctions.

    Gunsite S&W 1911

I've really enjoyed mine. I paid $850 for it about 8 months ago. I also wrote a review of it on my blog if you would like to have a look. The review is a bit shorter than others but one thing I can add is that this gun is very accurate as well as light enough to not even notice it's there wearing it all day IWB. Even as light as it is it's very easy to control in rapid fire. The brass bead on the front sight is a nice addition that makes it very easy to align quickly. A very good CCW choice.
