I'm curious about it too.
If anything I'd think it would compare to one of the less expensive Springfield models. At least that's my interest in it. I want to compare it to the GI and the Milspec.

I'm curious to see it. I don't know that I'll rush out to buy one of the first batch that hits the market.

I'd be interested to see, handle and shoot it.
I get the impression this one likely to be good value for money.

Why?
Why is the doggone Trigger Guard SO THICK?
That is probably one extra ounce of dead, useless weight.

Also, did you notice that the trigger guard doesn't have the "normal" high cut at the grip?

Me & Taurus Handguns -
I know Taurus handguns have really improved.
Unlike most Americans...I do not have a super short memory.
I still remember too many total nightmare scenarios about the "old" Taurus to ever totally trust the "NEW" Taurus as a self~defense carry firearm.
So...their new 1911 pretty much does absolutely nothing for me.
Me personally ~ If you laid them both down in front of me... A N.I.B. Taurus 1911 & a 2nd Hand Horsey .45 - I would buy any beat up, used, Colt 1911 over a spanky new Taurus & I would not even think twice about it.
But, that is probably just me.

Well my interest in the Taurus 1911 is not as a defensive pistol so I must admit I don't have the same concerns.
But even if that was a concern, take advantage of the format. As long as the frame is okay, it's a 1911 pattern pistol which is easily altered and repaired. If you don't like a mechanical feature, order the Colt parts from Brownell's and viola, fixed. Heck there's a gunsmith around here that does 1911 reliability packages at a very reasonable price.

Taurus
I sure would not stop anybody from buying one.
Actually, My biggest concern for people who carry ANY 1911 style pistol (including Colt) is them buying aftermarket parts for it that are of unknown origin & then carrying it for personal protection. There are SO MANY total junk and garbage 1911 "parts" floating around out there.
Do not buy critical parts for any 1911 pattern pistol that do not have a known maker brand name attached to them.
