    M&P9c Range Report...

Finished out 200 rounds of ammo today through the M&P9c. Last 150 were WWB 115 grain ball. Not so much as a hiccup from the gun. Trigger is smoothing up great and is as good as my Glocks. Reset crisp. No inadverdant dropped mags as some experienced in early models.

Accuracy is very good for a short barreled gun. It isn't hard to master the trigger for tight groupings although it doesn't compare to the 1911's I'm used to.

I think another 100 problem-free rounds tomorrow at the range and I can officially add this one to my carry stable. Looks like I have a good one.

Goid deal. My 9c has been excellent. I did have the mag drop issue, but S&W took good care of me.

Blame it on Sixto - now that is a viable plan.

Matt, what caused the magazine drop issue? Just wondering because I really like the M&P series and have thought about getting one. I like the grip and the gun seems very functional.

I had not heard of the mag drop problem. Can you shed some light on the issue for me?

The early magazine catches were kind of soft, and the metal surface that engages the magazine would round off a bit and the mag would drop under recoil.

S&W sent me two replacement magazine catches, and that solved the problem. Every couple range sessions I pop out the catch and check it.

I had one and liked it but got rid of it because if my thumb even brused the mag release the mag fell out. Dennis

If I didn't already have the comparable Walther P99AS Compact, I'd get one of these.

I've got a full size SW99 and that didn't stop me from getting a full size M&P9. Everyone knows you can never have too many guns...especially Smith and Wessons.

Glad it is working out for you.

My primary carry gun is MP 40c. It is 100% reliable and easy to shoot for a 40 S&W. Thanks for the range report.

Couldn't you change the mag release to the other side of the gun?
This way your trigger finger would have to release the mag.

I have a 40C which is my favorite gun. The only issues is the light mag release. I solved that by shaving down the button with a dremmel sanding drum attachment. I took it down enough that I can run my thumb over it while in a shooting position and it don't press in the button. Much better!

Might want to check that release and make sure the catch isn't rounding off.

.40 compact here, mine has been 100% reliable for 800 rds. Mine did need a little break-in at first (I should say a good cleaning). With tax money coming, I'm thinking of adding a SIG.

I thinking of adding the mid sized M&P 45 coming out in March.
