My first question is what are you considering "close encounters?" If you are talking 7 yards and closer then you don't really need sights for COM shots. If you are trying for an aimed head shot or something then they might come in handy. But those situations would be few and very, very far between.

    7 yards ..............point shoot
    or front site only.
on my G23 I use a ghost ring system. They are fast and accrurate.

Preference is still point shooting 15 yards and in. Taking your sights off the gun, Duh I don't think so.

I really like the standard dot 24/7 xs sights, personally. More accurate than the big dots, faster than any conventional sights I have used. Very handy for indexing and flash sight picture, too. I wish they were available for more models.

Eh...I have noticed that I am bit more accurate with the 1911 and their reliable GI sights.

For close encounters of the worst kind point and shoot is the best way out for most. Chances are that even if you miss it will stop the encounter. Dont bank on it though.

In that case, just deposit more lead.

It would hafta be point shooting as one should be pretty confident in that particular handgun and its grip angle.Espesially at close range...time issue. I wold think "seeing" a sight would be totally peripheral.

glock factory sights are good. or you can put on some after market night sights. but for close range you need to do "point and shoot". you will not see your sights.

Heinie Straight-8 sights were on my duty G22; truly great sights! I have moved back to SIGs as duty pistols, though, and like the factory non-tritium rear, with the front being either factory tritium or standard, but that is getting off-topic, as the original author in this post uses a Glock.
