Bender --- you asked about a Colt earlier this morning. I have a Commander 'Lightweight' that I purchased new, several years ago. With Wilson Combat mags, it's been flawless. Don't know about the Defender. I looked very hard at one before deciding on a new Springfield. In another Post, I described bringing the Springfield home, loading it with my carry ammo to see about feeding. 20 minutes later I had the gun back to the dealer. It would not eject a live round!! We discovered that it had the wrong ejector rod installed. It was too long and wouldn't allow the bullet to clear the chamber!!!
That's when I 86ed the Springfield in favor of the more expensive Kimber Ultra CDPII. Now, I've had some woes with that pistol as well!!!
My Colt is very dependable but I'd rather carry the smaller CDPII so I'm giving it a 2nd chance!
Once again ---- good luck!!
My wife has a Defender. She loves it!! It had a FTF with the Colt mags, We got her some wilson Combat mags it has be Flawless!!
Well... I went back to the gun show and this is what I came home with...
Its pretty sweet. I like the way it feels. I haven't fired it yet. Going to the range this weekend.
I know... Its not even close to a 1911.
What's important is what feels right to you. We can give you lots and lots of recommendations, but until it's in your hand, you can't make a truly informed decision.
It's also important that you pick a firearm with a good history of performance and reliability. Sig, needless to say, has that.
Hope it works out well and look forward to a range report!
I love my Springer Bi-tone and would not trade it for any gun. Steve48
You asked about Colts.
I carry a Colt New Agent in a kangaroo holster every day under a dress shirt and slacks, in a Crossbreed tuckable on days off.
I love my New Agent. Only have about 300 flawless rounds. Shot many mags as fast as I could pull the trigger. Couldn't make it choke.
Trying to talk my wife into an STI Escort, the new STI Rogue, or an EMP. All great looking little guns.

Still...I think I love my Kimber more. Smaller. Lighter.
