S&W mod. 15 questions
I saw one of these at my local shop today think its a really nice gun. I believe its a K-frame?,and has a 2" barrel and holds six rounds, its a square butt with adjustable rear sight. Anyone here own one these guns? Are these a rare gun to find? Also does anyone here CCW one of these? Does anyone here know what years these were made?

Yes, the Model 15 is a K frame. They were produced from 1949 to 1999. First known as the K-38 Combat Masterpiece, it was re-named the Model 15 Combat Masterpiece in 1957.
The Model 15, in both 2 inch and 4 inch versions, was the standard issue USAF sidearm, and was issued to U.S. Navy & U.S. Army aviators as well, before the adoption of the M9 Beretta.
It's a fine choice for a CCW firearm.

Just roll to your rifle and blow out your brains,
And go to your God like a soldier.

+1. The Model 15 Snubnose is one of the finest snubs ever made (and that's coming from a "Colt man").

I agree with falcon1, the Model 15 is one fine weapon. I carried one for many years as USAF aircrew and would not hesitate to bet my life on it.

I have a 4" 15. Smooth as glass and very accurate. A very knowledgable smith friend tells me that Smith and Wesson gave the 15 internals special attention to be butter smooth in double action. Mine sure is. I use it now to shoot in the stock revolver section of IDPA. Love it.

I carried a 15 on missile alert for 5 1/2 years. One of Smith's best products!

The Smith & Wesson Model 15 is one of those handguns for which everyone should be clamoring but is sadly passed over these days by many pistoleros. One of the nicest, most well-mannered handguns for range or field use, the Model 15 will digest any factory load or any (un)reasonable handload. I've got a 4-inch and am hoping for a 2-inch variation which I consider to be the classiest-looking snub and one of the very best looking handguns ever made. Seems that prices are just now beginning to rise on the Model 15 as collectors and shooters are discovering them. The 2-inch guns already sell for a premium.

I have three model 15's and a .22 cal. in identical configuration. 15's are fine all around revolvers. They are larger than I want for a discreet carry gun, but they are outstanding house guns. Everybody ought to have at least one.
