    difference in sw99 & walther p99???

    need a little help from some of you guys more familiar with these two models,, kinda want a p99,, i understand smith makes about the same model, with a different trigger system???? does any one know the pro's and cons of these two pistols,, and is there any difference in price,,?,, the most bang for the buck??? thanks

    No comparitive price info I am afraid but - can say, I have the compact 9 by S&W and it's a fine piece. In about all respects I understand it is the same as the Walther original.

    Mine has the AS trigger and so DA/SA. Forget designation of other trigger option but I think that gives DAO.

    They are virtually the same pistol.If you buy the Smith you get the lifetime warranty.By the way, these pistols have one of the best triggers I have ever
    shot on a pistol. Most will buy Walther for the perceived workmanship difference
    over S&W but I'll buy American and get the warranty.

    I don't have one of either, but a local department traded the W99 in for the SW99s on a stupid technicality (officers fault). NOw they are trading the SW 99 for the new M&P because something in the firing system (cant remember) was malfunctioning resulting in pistol not firing everytime (sometimes it would). SW was kind of embaressed and gave the dept. a good deal for the MP.
