Carrying a HK USPc - cocked & Locked or 1/2 cocked & safety off
For those of you who carry a HK USP/USPc V1, how do you carry it?
Cocked & locked?
Half-cocked & safety off?
Half cocked & safety on?
I have always carried mine half-cocked & safety on but am questioning the necessity of having the safety on with that somewhat long and firm first DA shot.
Any and all opinions welcome.
Thanks!

When I carried a USP, it was hammer down, safety off.
I don't see any need for the safety on for the first DA shot.

I don't carry my USPc very much but when I do I carry hammer down and safty off. I agree that there is not much need for the safty on the first DA shot. There was a pretty good tread about this on HKpro.com

I carried cocked and locked when I had my USP. I traded it off because I kept accidentally de-cocking the trigger while shooting, due to my thumb placement. I would like to get another one some day and convert it to either a variant 9 safety or an LEM trigger. It's important to me to have the same trigger pull every time.

Decocked, safety off
I have a USP 40c, and have carried decocked with safety off, so it is effectively like a Sig - DA first shot, then SA.

I carry a USP 40 decocked with safety on, since I carry it in a walkman type over the shoulder rig. It's easy enough to take off the safety with my thumb and the trigger pull is very predictable.

One of the reasons that I chose the USPc was the fact that I could carry cocked and locked. I have always carried my USPc in this fashion and in three years; I have never had the safety disengage accidentally.
BTW - I think you made a great choice in your EDC!!

I did the trigger job recommened by big bore On the H&K forum for the lem, and carry half cocked safety off on my compact. My bedside fullsize cocked and locked safety on. This one will get a trigger job soon to.
