I very well could be wrong, but I don't believe you can over-lube with CLP. :) Heck, I bathe my guns in that stuff - it's wonderful. I would bathe in that stuff but I would have to sleep alone. My wife thinks I'm nuts but I love the smell of it. Just gives me the shivers.

Joe - you have a serious problem there - and treatment to cure it is harsh.

You have to take a bath in Carburetter cleaner - tho not sure if your wife would like that either

I know Chris, I'm not right. I also can't stand the guys who spray half a bottle of that body perfume on themselves. Next time I get stuck in a conference room with one of those ninnies, I'm bringing in a bottle of BF-CLP and coating the underside of their cube desk. :D

Don't forget tho - Hoppes #9 is always a great second alternative LOL!

Start with Gun Scrubber. Everything smells great as you come out of the ether :}|>

For a defensive gun's break in, I'll keep it clean with Hoppes #9. I want the metal parts to wear together. After 500 rounds I'll start dabbing the slide and wear parts sparingly with fine machine oil after cleaning. Excess oil collects lint and dust during carry. In cold weather, I replace oil with a silicon type (Rem Oil.) Wearing under clothes obviates that, but I do it anyway. It gets -60 just north of us.

If I'm going to burn boxes at the range, I'll use more oil and a smear of moly grease on the rails and base of hammer where the slide cocks it.
