Full size vs Compact size?!

As a concealed weapon, do you carry a full size or compact fhandgun?

Compact.

I am a relatively small guy and it is just easier for me to conceal.

I have all sizes, and carry all sizes depending on what I expect the day to bring. If I had to choose one, I'd go with the compact.

Survey is somewhat difficult to answer , if i carry a 1911 its full size . However i carry compact day to day ( a kahr ) . I voted compact since i *think * you are not asking my 1911 preference .

Even tho it's a compact 1911 45 acp it packs pretty much same punch as 5" brothers,is totally relable and accurate

I disagree. A longer barrel usually equals a straighter trajectory and more muzzle velocity.

Primarily a compact, but I will be adding a new sub-compact soon (as an alternative).

Multiple choice for me. I carry all of those. Today it was the G17 OWB in my Ahern three slot pancake. I thought seriously about taking Mr SIG. Last week, it was G27 almost exclusively IWB and OWB. Next week may see the G19 IWB.

G23 or G27.

I have had and do now carry all size 1911s in specific.
My personal preference for all around effectiveness, combat accuracy, and ease of carry is toward a Commander length 4.5" slide on an Officer type grip length frame.

I do though carry all and over the past 90 days have been carrying full size all steel 5" 1911s exclusively with no problem.

Depends on what I’m warring. Shorts and T-shirt Kel Tec 380 jeans and motorcycle jacket Glock 26. But, I went ahead and voted sub compact

I voted 4" but mainly my 3.5" USPc until I put a couple hundred rounds thru my 4" kimber.

primarily carry a compact CZ P-06, but on occassion switch to my CZ RAMI 40 which is a sub compact

I've kind of short changed myself my whole life. I carry a 3 inch barrel GP100 and the 1 7/8" barreled S&W 642 and, on occassion, the Taurus PT145 with a 3 1/4 inch barrel. I wont even mention the minisucle size barrel of my P3AT. Ok...bottom line: I always have to search/pay for high speed/light grained bullets and "pray" that they might have enough velocity to expand/penetrate. As I get older, and hopefully wiser, I begin to see just why Mr. Browning wanted his .45 ACP to have a full 5 inch barrel length. I'd like to take a moment and put down here what Iowegan, the Ruger Forum Site's Weapon Guru had to say:

"Though a lot of bullet companies, gun magazines, and web sites may try to convince you otherwise, applied physics hasn't changed since the apple fell on Isaac Newton's head. Bullets don't have a lot of variables to work with so there's only so much they can do. They are not jet propelled, don't have smart chips installed, nor do they contain high explosives. Weight, jacket thickness, core material, shape of the nose, shape of the cavity, diameter, and length coupled with velocity about sum it up. You end up with a dumb bullet where any thing that makes it open up quicker also prevents deeper penetration. Likewise, if it opens slower, it will penetrate deeper. He has finally gotten through to me. I need to discipline myself...get out of the "carry comfort zone" and get me a good, full size, all-metal .45 ACP with a 5 inch barrel. Now...I can then get large, heavy bullets and pretty much be guaranteed with expansion and penetration...which is what we all want in a self defense weapon. Same thing can be said for a revovler.

Usually an Officer's sized 3 1/2" 1911, but I also have a full size 1911 for occasional carry, as well as an alloy framed S&W Model 5904 and a Model 36 Chief Special, in various combinations with odd .22's and even an old .25.
