Gunmeister,
I'm with you!! (BTW Welcome!!) I carry a Colt Compact because it is the best feeling gun I own!! And, as a result, I shoot it better. I've got prettier guns, but none that feel as good as this one.
You are going to find a lot of great folks here!! And lots of good, experienced information! Enjoy your visit here each day, always be sure the door is closed behind you when you enter or leave, pick up a fly swatter and make yourself useful, NEVER leave the coffee pot empty, and only take one donut at a time! BOY, don't sit in that chair! It's mine!!(Might better tiptoe at first, some of the old codgers get grumpy when their arthritis is acting up.)

If it works for you, and you like it, great.

I'm always glad to hear when a person finds that one gun that works for them. So many people will tell you, buy a glock or only a 1911 is worth anything, but in reality the best firearm is one you can comfortably and consistently shoot. I love my xd, but it isn't the perfect firearm, so I'm going to continue buying guns till I find the right one.

Why would we laugh? We carry what works best for us. In my case my preference is an S&W 3953, but also carry Kahr CW9 or Keltec P3AT depending on concealment needs.

It's a .45.

If that is your favorite gun why do you have listed a S&W M19-5 as your primary carry gun?

I got a good offer on the M19-5 and sold it. The PT745 marched to the head of the line because it feels right and I shoot it well.
I really do miss that M19-5, nothing like a K-Frame six shooter in .357Magnum. Just a tad too heavy for all day comfort.

Not laughing, I was told when I was looking for my bersa .45 in stainless I would be happier with a taurus 24/745, I just did not like the look of the handgun, it took me 7 months to get my Bersa in stainless but it was worth the wait for me, (then I found an xd 45, now i am regretting not getting the subcompact xd)
The bottom line as some have said above is that its reliable and your comfortable with it. You dont need a $2 k pistol, and if you have a similar experience to mine when I had to use my firearm and an officer kicked it across the pavement you will be glad you didnt cough up the extra on looks. (good news is it was only a p-11 the scratches are ugly but no harm on function) Function is what I care about,
Heard all the horror stories about the kelteks and taurus before, but I have owned several and I never had a problem. Hope that when I get to your age I can continue to say the same thing.

No laughing here. I've always been curious about those, but I've never bought one. My wife wants one of their 24/7 Pro models.

Let's see here.
You've got a handgun in a useable caliber.
The handgun fits you well.
The handgun is reasonable accurate.
The handgun is reliable.
You'll carry it rather than leave it in the drawer.
I don't see where the laughing comes in. I think you made a good choice.
