That's what I was going to say but you beat me to it. Oh well.

It's not pleasant to shoot. I shot the qualification course of fire that I give to my students that shoot well. That's 15 rounds at 3 yards (all in the red on my target), 15 rounds at 7 yards (all in the red again), 15 at 15 yards (I had three flyers, everything else seemed ok), and 5 rounds at 25 fired at the head after thumbing the hammer (I hit three).
I'm pleased.
Looks very serviceable to me.
Well, you sure ate the center out of that target with it.
I posted this under "Gun Show find!", but someone suggested I add this to this thread as well. So... here it is: a brand new, absolutely pristine 640-1 I bought in a tremendous deal yesterday at a gun show. I've only dry-fired it, but already the trigger is smooth and will likely be a joy to shoot with when I have time after Xmas.
What a great thread! :danceban:
How did I miss this???
Not the greatest pix, but here's my firstborn...

^^^ Sweet!!!!! Those grips really sets the gun off and they look great.
But for me there's something about the feel of a snubby with the old school skinny wooden grips in my hand that makes a tuning fork go off in my heart. I have a steel model 49 that feels better in my hand than any gun I've ever had.

I have two snubs on lay away. 1 is a SP101 and the other is a SW 442. I'll post pics when I get the guns....should be soon.
I really like the looks of the Taurus 85PLYB2 .38 SPECIAL +P (Protector) REVOLVER. Does anyone have it? any comments? how does it compare with similar a size S&W like the 442?

Thx
They look great, but I have just spent my last money on a Taurus firearm.
I have just returned a new revolver to them for repair and I am preparing another to make the same trip after Christmas. I had great service on the first repair, sent it one Friday and got it back the following Friday, however it seems as though there may be another problem that manifest itself when we shot it last week after it was returned. May just send it back when I send the other to be repaired,
Anyway, I am not slamming their guns as many people love them and have had great luck with them. As a matter of fact, I have a .454 Raging Bull that has been flawless......but these last 2 have cured me of buying another. But, that is just me.
I am waiting for delivery of a new 642 on Dec 23rd that I bought on Gunbroker the other night and I think that it will be serviceable out of the box without need of a tune-up.....at least I hope so. I have had a Mod 49 j-frame for years that has been shot a lot and has been perfect.
Good luck with what you decide.
As a current Taurus owner I suggest you reconsider ever buying taurus. EVER. Look at ruger and smith.
Take your money and run. If you don't Taurus will.
Taurus has a long history of interesting ideas and designs, but very poor execution and follow up. Stick with S&W or Ruger. On the other hand, you might get lucky and get a decent Taurus. I've never been much for gambling myself.
