Glock sights easy to change? (G26)

My wife just got a G26. At the shop she said she wanted night sights. But the salesperson told us that it was super easy to change, and we could save a few bucks buy purchasing them aftermarket.

Now that I have been looking at prices online, and the price of sight tools, I think we may have been duped, so we would buy what he had in-stock instead of ordering.

Anyone try changing out they're sights themselves?

Easy, hard, need to send it to a professional?

Buy them at your local gun shop and let them change them...they ARE tight...not an easy task without the right tools...OMO

I wouldn't do it myself without the proper sight tool! I think MGW makes the best one.

I'm seriously looking into buying one of these:
    http://www.defensivecarry.com/vbulle...morer-kit.html
I contacted them to inquire about a possible group buy but haven't received a reply yet--actually I'm using more than one venue to figure this out. I really want one and this is a good deal IMO as is. If we could get them down to say $100 for 10-20 members interested, I'd like the deal even more.

Most shops have the tool, and will install for free if you buy the sights from them. It is easy, takes 5 minutes at most.

Where in KY are you? I know a couple of shops near Cinci that will do it. Heck, if you're close enough I'll do it for you.

That's awful nice of you. Too bad i'm in Louisville.

I'll call around to a few more shops and see if they can do the swap.

Instead of starting a new thread, does anyone have any recommendations on Glock sights?

Mepro, Triji, Glock Night Sights, etc...?

I opted for Glock Night Sights because they were only $45 and I already had the rear sight pusher and front crimper...

I like the mepro's, but the Trij's are good sights too.

I put TruGlo TFO (Tritium/Fiber Optic) sights on my Glock and love them--the best of both worlds, fiber for day and tritium for night!

On special order through Cabela's I got a set with green front/yellow rear, which matches up with colors on my other pistols.

Check them out: TRUGLO - The World's Most Advanced Line of Fiber Optic Sights

About installing them, yes it's easy if you know what your'e doing and have the tool to push them. I have a friend who's a Glock armorer and has the tool so he did it for me. Otherwise, I'd guess a gunsmith would do them for something in the $15-20 range. Or, see if they will install them where you buy.

    Good luck.

I use a "C" clamp and a block of wood. I clamp the slide to the deck rail and get out the old hammer and punch. It's about a 10 minute job. Don't think it would pay me to own a sight tool, I only have three Glocks and have replaced the sights on those already. Doubt I'll ever have need of a dedicated Glock sight tool. Now, a universal tool might be another story!

B52> Where did you buy your Glock night sights? I've looked online and come up empty handed, haven't checked at the local store yet. I can find at least a half dozen brands, but no Glock-branded ones.

I'd go with XS Big Dot sights. It's the quickest sight picture out there IMO. You don't have to fool around trying to line up 3 dots. You just "dot the i".

If you want a 3 dot pattern, I'd go with TruGlo TFO (tritium fiber optic).

I put green/yellow TFO sights on my G19. Tools? A pair of needle nose pliers to pop out the front sight, a 1/4" drive set to tighten the screw on the the new front sight, a drift punch, bench vise with a strip of leather (to cushion slide), small piece of wood (to drive the rear sight through the dovetail), a small ball peen hammer and a tube of Loc-tite to secure the front sight screw and rear sight set screw (after verifying POA/POI).
