I would take that deal. The 640 with the boot grips gets close to $485 or so with all of the other stuff you get close to the $530 mark. You can always get another P239. The pre lock .38 640s are gone for good. I have a pre lock .38 only 649 and love it. I would love to have the chance for a 640 like the one that is available to you.
With regard to the steel vs alloy debate. I'll take the steel every time. I have a .38 342PD and it is a miserable little beast. The 649 is the one that does not live in the safe.
