    Thanks for the reply...I had looked at the S&W site...but that cost $30 dollars and takes a few weeks.....I just want a general idea of production year....any one have a blue book of gun values?

    According to my S&W book, the 640 was introduced in 1990. Are those first three letters in your serial number BRI or BRL, the lower case make me wonder?
    Turn the election's in 2014 to a "2A Revolution". It will serve as a 1994 refresher not to "infringe" on our Second Amendment. We know who they are now.........SEND 'EM HOME.

    Based on my 3rd Edition S&W book it is End of 1994 (BRF started in August) into 1995. Good find.
