    Best Pocket Pistol ???

    Best Pocket Pistol ???

I have a G26 and wanted to get something to throw in my pocket.

I have put my name on a list for the Ruger LCP (I am number 29) but was wondering what everone's choice was for pocket carry.

    .380 and up please.

    IMO...

If you are looking for something smaller than your G26, I would suggest...

    1) Kel-Tec P3AT
    2) Ruger LCP (already mentioned)
    3) Kahr PM9
    4) NAA Guardian

For me the best Pocket pistol is a Snubnose revolver

I'm a Seecamp fan, but you might find it informative to do a search. There've been a number of recent threads discussing this very topic.

"Best" is probably the Glock 26 or a S&W .38/.357 revolver. Hard to go smaller than the G26 without reducing both capacity and bullet power. Hard to go lighter than the S&W revolvers, given scandium.

If wanting to go smaller/lighter but willing to have less firepower, there are choices as folks have suggested.

I've got a KelTec P3AT .380ACP that fits the bill of disappearing into the pocket when little else will conceal. There's the Kahr PM9, which ends up being a bit flatter than a .38 revolver but otherwise conceals about the same. There's the KelTec PF9, which is a fair bit larger than the PM9, though thinner.

At about the .38 revolver's dimensions, you can look at the HK P2000SK compact 9mm, the Springfield XD Compact 9mm, or the Walther PPS (new gen), but these three are just a bit large for a pocket, unless you've got cavernous cargo-style pockets and a fairly loose dress code.

Actually, I've had the CZ P-01 in the pocket, as a test of just how much space those bad boys had in there. Yes, the pockets swallowed it up, though it was a fat lump in there that couldn't be anything other than a firearm. Too much for pocket carry, that. The point being: it depends on your pocket size and clothing, partly.

If you're talking literally pocket-sized, the jury is out in the contest between the Kel-Tec P3AT and it's Ruger clone, the LCP. I've carried a P3AT for years, and it is prone to what Kel-Tec loyalists call a "break in period." I'm not sure that mine has ever made it's way out of that period, seeing as how it still chokes on anything but blazer brass even after all the "fluff and buff" work that I've done to it.
IF the LCP is reliable out of the box, it gets my vote even though I've never seen one in person.

If by pocket pistol you just mean "ultra concealable", there is no substitute IMO for a 3" Kimber Ultra CDPII.

My preferences are my Keltec P3AT and my new S&W 642. The Keltec is the easiest to conceal being so small, thin and lightweight. The S&W 642 comes in second place, but packs more punch. Either is good choice.

I bought a Ruger LCP but also want to try a Kahr P380 when it comes out in early June.

    Pocket pistol

As of about 12:30 today ... the Ruger LCP. Just happened to stop into a Cabelas on Tuesday and saw one in their case at $299. Picked it up today and ran through five magazines of different ammunition ... WWB FMJ, American Eagle FMJ, some offbrand FMJ, Federal HST (with the post in the center) Hollow Points, and CCI Gold Dot Hollow Point.

It cycled every round with absolutely no problems and seemed plenty accurate as fast as I could pull the trigger.

I tried three different KT 380s, a KT PF9, a Kahr PM9 and (a long time ago) an Iver Johnson TP22 and Smith & Wesson Escort .22. My current and favorite carry gun is a G26 with the base magazine and a G17 +2 extra, with a G17 for car and car.

We'll see how it works out a little more on Saturday. Going to shoot in an IDPA match with the G17, G26 and a G23 and hope to shoot the qualifier with the G17. Lots of time in between to wring out the Ruger. So far, so good and all the KT 380 holsters fit perfect. The extra couple ounces is a non issue.

I carry a P-3at as my EDC. I also own a KT PF-9, and a XD 9-mm s.c. I can tell you while the XD is my fav, it's the 380 that's with me every day. The 380 just disappears, it's very thin, and light. The best part about it----trigger-bang every time for me.

P3AT. I can carry 100% of the time. Given a choice I carry the G19 or 1911, but most of the time I don't have a choice. I need something that is invisible and the Kel-Tec meets that need. Coat pocket, pants, suit coat, waistband, invisible wherever I put it.

Love my Rohrbaugh, warts & all. Yes, I know it only likes WWB and Speer GDHP, yes I have to change the recoil spring every 100 rounds, yes it's not a range gun and yes I can't shoot +P ammo in it. Still, it carries comfortably in a pocket and gives me 7 rounds of 9mm persuation, or 13 with a spare mag.

The gun has a rabid following, with good reason.
